TW: Blood, Swearing
"I can't believe it's been ten years since we've seen him," Mirabel sighed.
"Yeah, I wonder where he went," Camilo said. "He could've gone anywhere,"
"Speaking of Bruno, do you sometimes hear someone running?"
"What the hell are you talking about?"
"In the walls,"
"No? Have you gone insane?"
"Okay, okay, it was just a question,"
Silence once again pierced through the small, cramped room. Camilo shifted uncomfortably next to Mirabel, unable to think of any way to get rid of the awkwardness that spread between the two. Every time he thought of something relevant to say, it vanished from his mind as quick as it came. A few more minutes of nothing but small chatter echoing through the Casita, then Mirabel spoke again.
"We should go,"
"Yeah, right behind you,"
Still, neither had moved from their spot on the bed. Mirabel continued staring at the floor, and Camilo kept fidgeting with his ruana.
Finally, Camilo shook his head and abruptly stood up. Mirabel did the same.
They opened the door and walked their seperate ways, Camilo headed to the kitchen once again. He walked in and found his Tia Julieta still cooking.
"Hey Tia,"
"Hello Camilo, you sound tired, what happened?"
"Oh, nothing..just....a bit nervous, that's all,"
Julieta turned and gave him a comforting smile. "I remember when you were getting your gift, you were practically sweating waterfalls. I can't believe we had to drag you out of your own bed just because you were scared, and now you're all grown up and don't have to worry about anything anymore,"
Yeah, I wish..
Camilo edged closer to the wall and loosened his shoulders a bit, trying to relax again. He squeezed his eyes shut for five seconds, then slowly opened them again. It felt like a lot more energy was taken from his body after doing so.
For some reason, it was a lot more quiet in the Casa Madrigal, and he couldn't figure out why. Shaking the thought off, he looked back at Julieta, expecting to find her making food, however, she just stood still like a statue.
"Julieta?"
Still, she didn't move, it was unsettling seeing her not respond.
"Tia? Are you okay?" He asked, voice getting a little frantic. But still, no response.
He was starting to get concerned, and slowly walked towards her cautiously. Camilo gently placed a hand on her shoulder, standing behind her. A few seconds later, she flinched a little, causing Camilo to do the same.
Late response...weird.
He tapped her on her shoulder and slowly, she turned her head around. While doing so, Camilo felt his heartbeat race, his fear rising.
Julieta turned her head to face him, and Camilo was absolutely horrified by what he saw. He let go of her shoulder and took a few steps back.
Julietas face was gone.
"What the hell happened to you?!" He half yelled. Julieta slowly took a few steps towards him.
Camilo stepped back faster.
Julieta reached behind her back and pulled out a small, handled mirror, cracked and bloodied.
Camilo immediately looked away from his reflection, covering his face.
