Despite your claim of making new best friends, you still got up early to take the three hour train from Osaka to Tokyo where the tournament would be held with Kyo and Yuki.

You had one of Kyo's jackets draped over your shoulders as you leaned against the man himself, trying to nap before you'd be on your feet for most of the day. Kyo had his arm wrapped around your waist protectively as you slept, glaring daggers at anyone who stared at you for too long as he listened to the rock music playing from his earbuds. Yuki sat on Kyo's other side, reading over the directions to the tournament building she had written down on a notepad in pen earlier.

"It's not often we get to come out this far. It feels nice." Yuki said, trying to make conversation. Kyo pulled out one of his buds so he could address her.
"Huh? Oh, yeah. Being out of Osaka is pretty fun. I just wish the place wasn't so far." Kyo leaned back in his seat, taking care to not disturb your sleeping form. Your nose wrinkled as you grabbed onto the jacket he was wearing with a tight grip.

"Ha! Think we'll get home in time for dinner?" Yuki asked, leaning down to re-tie her slightly scuffed sneakers while Kyo shrugged in response and closed his eyes.
"I doubt it. I was gonna ask if you two wanted to grab a bite to eat before we got back on the train later."
"I wouldn't mind. I mean, I love the place but Yoshinoya's getting pretty old at this point.."
"I'm gonna pretend that you didn't just say that."
"It's true, there's better places we can eat. Let's get something besides beef bowls and fish for once."
"Alright, now I'm really offended." He said dramatically, pressing the back of his hand against his forehead. With an annoyed sigh, Yuki rolled her eyes and turned away from Kyo. She didn't know whether she should just ignore him or get up and move to a different seat.
"You're such a drama king, you know that?"

"Loud..." You yawned, lifting your head up from Kyo's shoulder. You brought your hand up to rub at your tired eyes, but once you remembered the eye makeup you applied this morning, you awkwardly dropped your hand down onto your lap instead. You tried to remember where you were and where you were going with them, and it quickly came back to you once your head stopped swimming.
"Sorry for waking you up." Yuki said apologetically, but you waved her off with a reassuring smile.
"Don't sweat it. I've been out since we found our seats and it's about time I got back up." You slipped your arms through the huge black jacket around your shoulders, fixing your hair into the meticulous way you had styled it afterwards, "We almost there yet? I really need to stretch my legs."
Kyo opened his mouth to answer, but was cut off by the sound of the train's speaker.

"Now approaching: Tokyo Station."

You let out a little laugh as you stood up, wobbling a little since your legs were still somewhat asleep. Kyo and Yuki followed after you, grabbing their own stuff.
"Think we'll have enough time to shop while we're here?" You asked, heading towards the exit doors.
"Is that all you can think about?" Kyo sighed, folding his arms.
"What can I say? It's like, the only sort of control I've got in a crazy world such as this."
"Besides, she's way more fashionable than you; I feel like I'm sensing a little jealousy here." Yuki pointed out. You smiled smugly at Kyo, who immediately got defensive.
"What's wrong with what I wear, huh? I didn't ask you guys to come and insult me."
"It's boring! All you wear are plain white t-shirts and jeans. Sometimes you'll throw on a jacket too." You explained.
"Considering you stole one of them, my jackets seem pretty alright to you."
"One, you left it at my house that time you came over to raid the kitchen and never asked for it back. Two, that's a minor detail! Let's stop talking now, 'kay?"

Even though you wore it almost everywhere now and the huge golden eclipse printed on the back of it told everyone who the true owner was, you still refused to acknowledge that it was his.

As soon as the train stopped and the doors opened, you hopped off. You hadn't intended on getting separated from your small group, but you quickly realized that you managed to lose them in the crowd.
'Well, shoot.' You hugged your white cat bag tightly with a huff. How hard could it be to find a couple of teenagers in a sea of salarymen and office ladies and the occasional tourist group? You really should've kept your mouth shut. In the end you wandered around aimlessly for about ten minutes, slowly becoming way more frustrated with the situation. 'Seriously, this is getting stupid! You'd think I'd've found them by now!'

As you seethed internally, a hand grabbed your shoulder. You instantly froze, loosening your grip on your bag until it was swaying next to your knees. If it ended up being one of those salarymen from earlier trying to proposition you like they tended to when you were alone, you'd totally blow a gasket. In your head, you slowly counted to three before whirling around. You couldn't hide your grin once you realized that it was only your friends.
"Aww, you guys! I thought I lost you forever!" You exclaimed happily. Kyo and Yuki shared a look, raising an eyebrow each.
"Uh, right." Kyo said boredly.
"You're being a bit dramatic, y'know? We would've found you eventually." Yuki sighed. Shrugging, you tugged your bag back over your shoulder.
"Whatever. Let's just get to that tournament already, yeah?"
"Yeah, yeah. Why don't you hold onto me until we get there? Just so you don't get lost again." Kyo offered. You eyed him skeptically, but looped your arm through his anyway, completely missing the excited looks Yuki and Kyo gave each other.

Following the directions Yuki had written down, it wasn't hard to find the arena. That, and it wasn't far from the train station either! Good to know it wouldn't take long to get home later. Stepping inside the cool building, you were surprised to see the sheer amount of competitors and fighters packed inside like sardines. Kyo dragged you off to the registration booth before you could dwell on it further.
"You know, these people look pretty tough! You sure you can take 'em all on once after another?" You asked once Kyo was checked in. He promptly fixed you with an 'are you kidding me' expression.
"No one can beat the Kusanagi flame. No one."
"You'd better cut it out before someone makes it their personal mission to wipe that smug look off your face." Yuki said, annoyed. In response, Kyo mockingly mouthed what she was saying when she wasn't looking. You had to smother your laughter with an obviously fake cough.

"Who are you, my dad? I'm gonna be just fine; stop worrying about me so much." Kyo groaned, which got you fired up.
"So when I tell you guys not to worry about me it's the end of the world, but when he says it it's peachy freakin' keen!" Letting go of Kyo's arm, you scoffed, "I'm gonna remember that."
"I never once said it was fine for him to do it too. In all honesty, you're made for each other." Yuki said. You scowled at her, turning your head away and letting go of Kyo so you could fold your arms.
"Ugh, as if! I can't believe you just said that." Were you causing a small scene? Maybe. Did you care? Not in the slightest, "Quit teasing me so much, got it? It's not funny."
"Jeez, is the thought of being my soulmate really that awful?" Kyo chuckled, but it sounded strained.
"Considering how much we tease and insult each other, yes! Hmph. If anyone's gonna be my soulmate, then I hope it's-" You paused for a moment, squinting into the distance. Letting out a sharp gasp, you began to run in the direction you were looking, much to Kyo's surprise.

"That.. could've gone better." Kyo rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly, "Wonder where she's running off to anyway? I wasn't done talking to her."
Yuki stood up on her tippy-toes, soon spotting you in the crowd. You had run up to a tall blond man, surrounded by squealing women. Oh, now she understood.
"Benimaru Nikaido. I never took him to be the type of guy who'd sign up for a fighting tournament."
"Who's that? Some sort of musician or...?"
"Try famous model." Yuki took another peek at him, "Plus he's a well known flirt and playboy."
"And she's into that? What's this Benimaru guy got that I don't? I mean, he doesn't look that cool."
"He's fashionable, which she likes." She turned her gaze back to Kyo, "Is that jealousy?"
"Isn't it obvious?" Kyo scoffed.

You skipped back to your friends as a giggling, blushing mess a few minutes later, "He's even better in person!" Twirling a lock around your finger, you finally noticed Kyo's sour expression and Yuki's amused one, "What's eating at you, huh?"
"Nothing." Kyo replied, forcing a grin onto his face, "How about we go find our first opponent?" Without waiting for either of you to respond, he began to walk away with his hands shoved deep in his pockets.
"That man..." Yuki muttered, shaking her head as you two slowly trailed behind him.
"You know I don't believe him, right?" You said, watching Kyo's back as he greeted some unfamiliar people.
"He's just jealous, that's all."
"...Jealous? Kyo's jealous? I didn't even know he knew the meaning of the word."
"Ooh, yeah. He's pretty jealous of your new friend, that's all."

Kyo was jealous of Benimaru? How strange. You didn't know that Kyo knew his name in the first place, seeing as he never took an interest in your fashion magazines whenever you'd read them in his presence. Maybe it was the fact that Beni got way more dates than him? That totally had to be it, right...?
