About a week after the tournament, things went back to normal. Well, mostly back to normal.

People at school seemed to take more notice of Kyo after that. You and Yuki wouldn't have minded if it were only just a few people in your grade. But no, it seemed to be a select few from the other grades too! And worst of all (in your very humble opinion) was that people started leaving him love letters in his shoe locker too. You didn't know why that part of the whole situation bothered you so much, seeing as Kyo immediately rejected everyone and refused to lead them on by accepting their occasional gifts too. Maybe you were being completely irrational about the whole thing, but you hated those unknown students for some reason. Kyo and Yuki didn't say anything on the matter because you were already known to be pretty aggressive at times, but Tomoe certainly brought it up when she saw you sulking and actually doing your work in class.

"They barely even know him outside of being the guy to beat Beni." You hissed, quickly scribbling down an equation in your workbook. Mr. Kinoshita left the classroom to go print off some papers, so you students were left to your own devices. You decided to work on the assignment for the day so you wouldn't have any homework later that night. "Like seriously, it's so dumb!"
"Then why are you so worked up about it if it's dumb?" Tomoe questioned, leaning back in her seat. She cautiously let go of her desk, leaving her chair to balance itself on its back legs while also holding her. She hastily stumbled off as it clattered to the floor, immediately trying it again after she righted it. She didn't pay her other classmates' weirded out stares any attention as she did this.

"Because they're being super irritating and obnoxious about it. Isn't it obvious that he's going to keep rejecting everyone? They're all strangers!" You scowled, furiously erasing something on your paper.
"Are you sure that you're not just pissed at them for trying to steal your pretty boy away from you?"
You finally slammed your pencil down, putting your head on your desk right after. Your brain was totally short-circuiting. "Tch, not even. I just think they're into him for super shallow reasons, and I have a right to be worried about it as his best friend in the whole entire world."
"I call bullshit. This is grade A jealousy if I ever saw it."
"I don't get jealous," You declared, voice muffled by the desk, "Jealousy is for silly junior high kids who don't know any better, so can we please drop this? I really don't wanna think about it anymore."

You could feel Tomoe's eyes linger on you as she sighed in disappointment. You didn't want to face her though. How dare she accuse you of jealousy? The whole idea was stupid! So what if you hated the thought of him potentially getting with those other people? You just wanted to look out for him like he does with you and Yuki, plain and simple. You were just a worried friend.

Later that afternoon, you pulled Yuki along with you to go shopping for some yukatas for the annual summer festivals in the coming months. She could tell that you were agitated by the frustrated mumbling you did as you both left the school building and took the train downtown and watched as you roughly handled some of the stuff you saw while window shopping, but wisely decided to stay out of it for the time being just in case you decided to bring it up later. You, on the other hand, were too busy inspecting the wall of colorful and patterned yukatas to pay her any mind.
"I can't decide between the pink or white one." You hummed, hooking your index finger beneath your choker and tugging lightly. Yuki had picked out a light green yukata with pink and white lilies on it for herself a while ago, so now she was helping you decide.

"Go for pink. White's way too hard to keep clean, and it's too boring for you."
"I had a feeling you'd say that. Thanks for the help!" You gently took the pink one off the shelf, dusting it off and grabbing a matching obi to go with it. "Alright! Ready to jet, Yuyu?"

Yuki nodded so you both headed out after paying for your things. With a yawn, you tucked a hand into the pocket of your school cardigan while you lazily dangled your purse and shopping bags from your arm, "Man, I've really missed this! Hanging around town with you, I mean."
"Me too. It feels like we hardly get any time together anymore."
"Tell me about it. I've just been really caught up with hanging with the other girls and dealing with him. I didn't mean to neglect you."
"No, no, don't worry about it! I'm not mad or anything, because I get it. It's partly my fault too. Tutoring's been keeping me busy, and I've been studying a few medical books lately."
"Still, I feel super bad! Why don't we designate a specific day of the week for the two of us to meet up and chat or something?"
"You'd do that?"
"Well, duh! It'll make sure we get the chance to catch up at least once a week, and we won't have to worry about being too busy."

"I guess that's not such a bad idea," Yuki said, tapping her chin, "Would Sundays work? I never have anything going on then."
"If it works for you, then it works for me. I usually don't have anything important either.. well, besides my chores. After that though, I'm free the entire afternoon."
"Well, it's settled then. Will we meet up this weekend?"
"I don't see why not. Let's meet up at the train station, that way we can just go where the wind takes us! Way more fun than planning a trip to the last minute." After Yuki voiced her agreement again, you nodded and closed your eyes for just a moment. That turned out to be a bad idea, as you ended up bumping into someone's back. You let out a sharp gasp and stumbled back a little in surprise, dropping one of your bags.

"Shoot! Sorry about that!" Not one of your finer moments, that's for sure. The person, a rather tall man, turned to glare at you with his piercing blue eyes. Though, he did pick up your fallen bag and handed it back to you. As you slowly took it back from him, you got a better look at his face. Or.. at least the part that wasn't obscured by his shocking crimson hair. In a way, he reminded you of one of those visual kei guys.. He looked more annoyed than mad, but you still didn't want to stay in this guy's presence for too long just in case he bit your head off.

"Just watch it next time." The man grumbled, stalking off in the way you and Yuki had been going. You watched him as he left, only turning to acknowledge Yuki once she shook your shoulder to get your attention.

"Whoa.. that guy was kinda intimidating. I thought for sure he was gonna yell at you." She said worriedly.
"Yeah. But he was still kinda GL!" You let out a small giggle, brushing off her concerns. It wasn't like you were ever gonna see him again. "Anyway, you wanna go get a bite to eat? I'm like, famished right now."
"Uh, sure! I'll probably get something small though."

With that entire run-in with that guy completely out of your head by the time you and Yuki approached the local convenience store, you considered this day to be a total success as you loudly sipped on your soda outside while Yuki paid for her food.
