Chapter 8

At this point, Jennie had no choice but to fulfill Taehyung's request.

Mr.Kang and the rest of the bodyguards bowed down at her as she walked awkwardly.

"Sir Taehyung, the board of directors meeting is right at this room." Mr.Kang went with the flow despite knowing the existing phenomenon.

She followed after them and walked inside.

Taehyung followed behind her.

"Wait, I need to talk to her for a bit." Taehyung said.

Mr.Kang and the rest of the bodyguards nodded, as they are worried at this point.

Then he went closer to Jennie.

"Tae...I-I feel so nervous.."

"Just speak the words that I told you. Jebal, I'm relying you for this. My father will be so mad at me."

"Who among them plans to steal your position?" Jennie whispered.

Taehyung pointed slightly at Mr.Min and his son beside him.

"You gotta do what it takes to defend me and not them get away with that position."

"Arrasseo....after all, this is my way for repaying you for helping me out from the farm."

"Gomawo."

Jennie and Taehyung smiled at each other.

Then Jennie eventually went inside.

The directors looked at her, even Mr.Min.

The room arrangement there was like U-shaped to get a better view of the chaebol.

So Jennie had no choice but to go at the center.

She looked each and everyone in the eye.

"Mr.Kim, you're finally here after your so called immersion." One of the directors, Mr.Park said.

"Yes."

"And now you're here for the plans of appointing the new chairman. Why do you think you're capable to become one?"

"Because, I am willing to do what is expected of me. I am willing to give in much effort for this position."

"You're a guy who loves drinking, partying, and gambling...do you think this is the right example of a chairman?"

Then the other directors started murmuring things.

Meanwhile outside, Taehyung was looking at the scene before him since the door was open.

He was tapping his foot anxiously.

He never expected that someone would ask that type of question.

And much worse, it came from his one and only uncle who is ready to take the opportunity towards the position.

He gestured Jennie to leave, he wanted to give up.

He agreed on that part of how come someone as irresponsible as him would get that kind of position.

But then Jennie didn't move an inch.

Instead she stood up confidently and cleared her throat.

Taehyung was surprised by this move.

"That guy you are referring to...he's long gone. I may be that kind of person I was in the past....but that doesn't define who I am in the present and in the future..... People change overtime. If you think I'm the same guy, you are wrong. You never really know who I am....I may be a bastard at times, but deep inside all I really want is someone to understand me. I may be cold and arrogant, but others have never witnessed how caring and warm I am. They only saw the negative in me. So if you were to choose someone as the next chairman, please do it not from prejudice." Jennie said and then bowed down.

As Jennie was stating those words, he felt his heart being massaged softly.

He remembered those moments at the farm, he never thought Jennie saw the good in him.

His eyes were teary, because all her words were accurate and true.

All he wanted was to be understood and heard.

As soon as Jennie reached towards him, he cried and hugged her.

"Gomawo." He whispered and closed his eyes as his tears fell down.

Jennie was surprised by the sudden move.

As they went out from the building....

"Sir Taehyung, shall we go with you?" Mr.Kang asked.

"Ah no need to." Jennie replied.

Then this time she turned to Taehyung

"Thank you Jennie." He smiled.

"Alright then. I guess I did a job well done." Jennie grinned.

After that, Taehyung grabbed her arm.

"Let's go...I wanna bring you to some place."

"Yah, where are you taking me?"

"Just come with me...I'll be the one driving."

This time, Taehyung went on the driver's seat while Jennie on the front seat.

At the point of view of the people outside.

It was the girl driving.

This time they drove through a long pathway with hills and grasses on the sides.

Jennie was looking outside the car window to admire the view.

To her surprise, she felt Taehyung holding her hand and caressing it.

She looked at the way he was holding it, then looked at him.

He looked at her and smiled.

Is this still part of him thanking me?....She thought.
