{Chapter 3}

An alliance with Gavin?

Gavin didn't really have any attributes that we needed - neither did Charles so I don't know why we keep him.

Charles, Cena and I all huddled in one tiny group and looked at each other. We were all thinking the same thing: 'would he betray us'?

"Gavin's loyal." Charles and I looked to Cena. She shrugged "What? I think he's loyal." I mean she wasn't wrong. Gavin seems like the loyal kind of person.

I stopped and went over everything he said "Wait. Didn't he just say that we look like the only sane people around?"

Cena looked at me, then turned around to look at Gavin "What do you mean by 'we're the only sane ones left'?"

Gavin was now sitting on the rocks. He stood and came to us and he looked worried - and you never see Gavin worried.

"It's true. Mack's gone crazy, Koen is going crazy because Mack's going crazy, George is acting, just weird and Gina's not being the crazy Gina that we know. And-!"

"And nothing is wrong with us?" I didn't want to bare the thought that our class is going crazy, so I cut him off before he could finish.

"Well, from what I know, yes." Gavin folded his arm "I seem to be fine like you guys, so I wanted to know if I could join you guys?"

Cena squinted her eyes and folded her arms "What's 1+1?" Gavin seemed to identify it as a joke.

"20." He said sarcastically. Gavin purposely got the answer wrong and was casual about it like usual.

Cena and Charles found the joke in this and played along with it.

"I don't think he's going to make it, give him CPR!" Cena kneeled down beside him while Charles preformed really bad CPR on him.

Gavin seemed to be fine with Cena and Charles being 'paramedics' and having him as a patient.

I just  put my hand to my forehead and shook my head at their stupidity. I guess Gavin's with us now.

I looked up and saw Clarise, Lacey and Luke walking around in circles around the campus and talking to each other.

I decided to go join them. It would be a nice change of pace. 

As I walked away I could hear Cena saying "call an ambulance, call an ambulance!" Luckily they didn't notice me walking away so I didn't need an explanation to be leaving.

Clarise, Lacey and Luke were like a friend group. They are very laid back and calm - unlike some people.

Clarise was walking in the middle with Lacey on her left and Luke on her right. The three of them just walked around in circle all of recess.

I ran up to them and heard that they were talking about another book that they loved as if they didn't know that our class was going crazy and had just eaten a three course meal.

I occasionally walked around with them for a bit then end up running off to Charles or Cena. When I have the chance to talk with them, it is nice.

 "Hi." I said, cheerfully as I caught up with them.

The three of them turned around to look at me and smiled.

"Hiiiiii." Luke said giving me a wave back. Clarise gave me a very dense "Hi." and gave a slight smile.

"Oh my goodness, I still can't believe he won. Such a rollercoaster." Lacey just popped up out of the blue with that statement.

"You're so right, such a rollercoaster." Clarise said clearly agreeing with her.
