Chapter 3: Rejection...?

At this point, Shu didn't know how to react.

Kill. Kill. Kill.

That word from the letter ruled his mind. No Valt. You can't.

Don't kill...you aren't that type of person.

Shu thought, completely ignoring the main point: Valt liked liked him.

'But I can't possibly....'

Shu looked down at the letter which was laying in his hands. He closed it back to its original form. Then, he shoved it into his pocket, walking to look for someone.

Shu POV

How am I...No, I can't. I can't break my best friend's heart. Not like this. But I don't have much of a choice, do I?

Third PER

Shu stopped walking when he saw Valt standing by the lockers. Valt saw the albino and quickly walked away, covering his face.

'Valt, wait!' Shu shouted out.

The bluenette turned around and stopped in his tracks.

Silence surrounded the hall.

'I'm sorry Valt...' Shu mumbled.

Valt knew what he meant by that, yet, he wasn't prepared for it. Just then, the most heartbreaking words Valt could ever think of right now escaped Shu's mouth.

'I'm really sorry, I don't feel the same way,'

'Oh...it's okay,'

Silence once again spread around the hall.

'Well, I-I have to go,' Valt muttered, his voice beginning to break.

'Okay...we'll still be best friends, right?' Shu asked, worried.

'Yes, of course! Best...friends...' The bluenette replied, looking down in disappointment.

'Cool! Well, I'll see you around!'

'Right...'

Time Skip: 2 hours

Valt sat there at his desk, after the class had been dismissed for break after math. He looked up through the window, at the sky. It was filled with white, puffy clouds. 'Such a happy and positive setting for a terrible day, hm..' He thought to himself.

Shu POV

I walked into an empty classroom, oh never mind, Valt was there. He seemed to be lost in his own world...he stared so blankly out the window. I hope I didn't hurt him too badly.

'Hey Valt?' I greeted him. But there was no response, only silence. I came closer to him and tried saying hi again. Still nothing. I shook his shoulder to 'wake him up.'

Valt POV

I was too deep in my thoughts. I wanted to escape the pain, agony and suffering of reality for once. I hated it all. I understand that Shu doesn't feel the same way, but it still hurts. Suddenly, I felt someone shake my shoulder and I turned to see who it was.

'It's about time you decided to come back,' Shu chuckled. 'Oh...right, yeah,' I replied, unamused.

'Are you...okay? Sorry about...earlier,' He continued. I knew he felt bad, and I love him for that, he was always so understanding and considerate. However, being asked this just made me feel even worse.

'Yeah, I'm fine, don't worry about it..hehe,' I faked a laugh and smiled at Shu. He doesn't deserve to be wasting his time worrying about someone like me.

Shu POV

'Oh, amazing then,' I said. Something was up. I know you're not fine, Valt. Why would you try to lie? That smile, that laugh, it's all fake. It's not sincere at all; I know you too well. Perhaps, I've hurt you more than I could ever imagine.
