"You let yourself have too much freedom, Sophia."
She found herself being scolded by them again. They talked with her as like she was a child, pointing out her obvious mistakes. But were they really mistakes?
She only tried to make everything easier for Raven. The things she must have been going through right now... She imagined herself being in such a position. She would riot and scream, even demand an explanation about what was going on. She would kick of anyone who would try to restrain her, not leaving home before she'd get a good enough reason to let them take her away. Somehow it was really hard to understand Raven.
She was so very different and strangely adaptable. Which was a great ability given the situation she would soon find herself in.
"I am merely being nice to her, trying to make her understand."
"And how do you think she will understand when you're hiding her in a room?"
Sophia sighed. "I'm not hiding her. I'm just leaving her to sort things out."
"What things? She doesn't know anything yet."
"That doesn't mean she must learn everything at a time!" She was getting frustrated. Being on earth for such a long time definitely made her more stressful, but perhaps it was just the people of earth who tested her patience.
"We got orders to look for the girl, bring her to our Headquarters and send her to Pandora."
"And I got orders to protect the girl. As I understand it, I have to protect her physical health as well as her mental." She stroke her forehead and frowned. This mission was not as easy as she thought it would be.
"Look... Just- Just let me talk to her first, explain to her why she's leaving earth."
"Fine," spoke Garrett quickly, before anyone else could objectify her. She soon learned that he was the most reasonable of all and that it was a waste to keep him here, monitoring the world which was already lost to mankind.
"But you have to do it now. We agreed to launch in three days' time."
Sophia nodded and quickly exited the boardroom. But she was not meant to visit Raven just yet. First she had to make a call.
She soon found an empty room and took out her portable tablet-computer. She entered a few digits, choosing the right network and clicked the call button.
A black screen appeared as she waited for the other line to pick up her signal. She hoped it was good enough to communicate just for a little while. And after a few seconds they picked her signal and transitioned her to the main screen.
"We expect that you found her?" There was a man on the other line, standing in front of the screen and having a straight face. His lips were squeezed into a thin line.
"I did." She answered shortly.
"We learned you're launching in three days. Make sure you tell her everything she needs to know."
Sophia nodded. "I will."
"And only what she needs to know."
Sophia bit her lip and the screen turned black again. What more did she expect? Commander Royce was not a man of words and she was not in the mood to test his patience with her.
She took a deep breath and then made her way to the girl's room to shake her foundations on which she built her world.
*~*~*
Raven didn't notice her when she entered. She was looking at the bookshelf, observing the few books that were put on it and brushing her hand over their spines. She looked extremely calm whilst doing it, finding herself in some kind of a bliss. Sophia felt bad to interrupt her but she couldn't delay any longer.
