Y/n's pov

As I got back home from work late, yet again, I decided that I deserve a long nights rest. I work as a teacher since I decided that all that extra knowledge father has taught us won't be that necessary, I'll teach it to children who deserve it. Yet no one told me how hard it is to work with children.
I threw myself on the couch and turned on the TV. I dozed off after a while which led to an uncomfortable night of sleep.

A few hours later, I woke up to my phone ringing. Ugh. I unwillingly picked up the phone and answered. "Hello?"
"Hi" it was Vanya.
"Why are you calling me so early in the morning?"
"What do you mean, its quite late" she answered.
"Whatever. Don't get me sarted on how annoying time is. Anyways, why did you call?"
"What? Can I not check up on my sister?"
"I mean, you can. But you usually dont call without a reason."
"Right,"
"So..."
"Um..."
"Is it something bad?"
"Well, kind of?" She sounded like she was questioning herself. There was something going on. I could tell.
"What do you mean kind of?" I asked in a not too angry tone still tired from lack of sleep.
"Well, I found out a few minutes ago that dad died"
"Im sorry, what now?"
"Dad died"
"Huh" I answered. I felt a weight fall off my shoulders."Is there gonna be a funeral?"
"Yes." I groaned at the thought.
"And you expect me to be there?"
"Yes"
I closed my eyes in annoyance. I dont want to go back there, but it is still my home. Everyone is going to be there, I have not seen anyone, appart from Vanya and sometimes Allison, for the past few years. "Alright fine. I'll go."
I remember a 3 years ago, Vanya wrote a book about the academy and about us. I dont think its that bad but knowing the rest of the academy, I doubt they would have taken it kindly. I mean, spilling family secrets to the entire world is kind of bad but I don't hold a grudge.
"Thanks." She whispered, in reassurance.
"I'll be there as soon as I can."
"Ok, see you there. Bye"
"Bye" I hung up the phone. Great. Not only do i now have to pack my stuff, I also need to get a plane ticket to America.

I was stood in the rain at the airport waiting for my taxi. I'm contemplating whether I should call Vanya to pick me up instead. Just as I reached for my phone, the taxi got here.

Which led me to where I am now. I front of my childhood home. The creation of my nightmares. I remember it looked like a mansion to as a kid, now it just looks like a basic, tall building. The gates infront had circles with umbrellas in them. 'God, when did this place get so sad?'
After another few minutes of just standing there, I got brave enough to walk inside.
When I walked inside, I saw a massive chandelier hanging from the ceiling, large stairs that were leading up to the top floor. The walls were covered in pictures amd paintings of us when we were younger. But they were not your average pictures and paintings, they were us when we were still in the Umbrella Academy, in our uniforms.
I walked thurther into the house and saw people sat on the couch in the living room. I tried to not look at the painting above the fireplace. It was a picture of Five. It was put up there after he left. Im trying not to think of it because I would most likely have a random outburst of anger. Then the attention was place on me when Vanya called out my name from the couch on my right. "Y/n."
Which then led to everyone else to look at me and greet me in their own way. Which was with either a stare of resentment of a look of supprise.
I look around to see Allison on a chair near Vanya, Klaus in dads liquor cabinet behind the counter, Diego sat next to Allison in a different chair and Luther was sat on a different couch near Diego. They have all changed so much I could bareley recognise them. But I could tell that the only thing that didn't change was their behaviours towards each other.

Luther got more buff. Maby its the moon affecting him or maby it was just him working out so hard. He was wearing a large overcoat which was surprising to see. He seemed almost surprised to see me.

Next was Klaus, he seemed a bit more scrawny than last time. He was wearing a black coat with fur on the rims, a not so transparent crop top with stars on it and Allison's skirt? He stopped what he was doing at the cabinet to look at me and was very happy to see me.

Then there was Diego. He didnt seem to change much at all. He was a bit taller, has some minor scars on his face and was wearing some kind of suit. Not a fancy suit, more like if a man was trying to wear a kids costume. He also had multiple knive holders strapped to his chest so the knives could be in reach. Obvioisly his ego was still too high which made it seem like he didnt seem too happy to see me, but I could tell he was happy on the inside.

Allison got even prettier if she wasnt pretty enough before. The only reason I could tell it was her was because of the same curls she always had. Most of her hair, however, was mainly bleached. In my opinion, it looks very good on her. She was wearing a royal blue top with some very nice black trousers. And she was sat elegantly with a glass of what looked like alcohol. She looked like she was confused on why I was here.

Then there was Vanya who was obviously happy to see me. Like always.

I walked over to where Vanya was sat and I sat down next to her. I was handed a drink by Klaus and I gratefully took it and took a big sip of it. It tasted quite bad but it was better than the awkward silence that was surrounding us. I looked around and everyone was minding their own business. 'This is definitely how you greet your family after not seeing them in so long,' I thought. The only sound I could hear was the clinking of glass over by the liquor cabinet where Klaus was. Well, that was untill luther decided to speak up.
"Um..." he started in a very awkward tone "I guess we should get this started"
