Esmeray's POV
After school I drove to the grocery store then picked up everything that our kitchen needed, and took the groceries home. I put everything away and threw away the paper bags that were used to carry the groceries.

I then left the house and drove to the diner where dad planned for us to sit and eat after our first day. It was a cute small white building with a green roof called 'The Lodge' I parked my car next to Bella's truck and got out. The diner resided between town and the homes that surrounded it making it a more residential restaurant rather than a tourist one.

I walked in and took note of the creamy yellow curtains and small dining room tables. The bar was the only thing that made me think it was an actual diner and not someone's grandmother's house. I caught sight of my dad sitting with a disgruntled Bella. I immediately sat down in an empty chair with a mouthwatering bacon burger and fries with bbq sauce on the side.

"Hey! Sorry I'm late" I said, as I grabbed the ketchup and mayo and squirted them on my burger. Dad smiled at my cheerful attitude "That's fine. How was—?" Bella cut him off by snobbishly saying "Why did you even bother to show up? We were having a much better time without you!" My face fell and dad gave her the dirtiest look imaginable.

Before he can say anything a familiar face came into view "Hi! Sorry for the wait—little Esmeray?! Look at you!" I smiled and stood up and hugged her as she quickly stuffed some lemon juice into Bella's hands. "It's so good to see you again Ms. Stone! How have you been?" I asked as I hugged Cora Stone tightly. She laughed and hugged me back.

"I've been good, sweet girl, and you know it's just Cora. How are you? Any boys? It was your first day of school today, right? Did you make any friends?" Cora rapidly fired off excitedly as I sat down. Bella must've gotten annoyed because she irritatingly said "Excuse me, but what is this? Last I checked you had a job to do and that isn't socializing with that abomination" I gave Bella a glare and once again static filled my head "Shut up Isabella. No one was talking to you" I snapped.

Bella scowled and snapped her head back to her lemon covered lettuce. She could've at least added some carrots and cucumbers, it's literally just leaves covered in lemon juice! Dad had gotten himself some mashed potatoes with brown mushroom gravy and steak. Cora chuckled and said "Good to see you womaned up since the last time I saw you" I smiled at her.

If I ever needed to tell someone who my mother was I'd just say it was Cora. She treated me more like her own daughter than Bella did.

"I actually wanted to talk to you. There's a bonfire tomorrow night at First Beach and I was hoping that you could come over at 4:30 and help me make some  pies then we could head over? Together?" I said, her face lit up and she nodded happily "Sure! I'll be back in a minute with some berry cobbler for you."

Cora walked off and Bella scowled at me "What bonfire? Why didn't anyone tell me about it?" Charlie and I stared at her blankly before saying in unison "Because you weren't invited."
