Tushant calling out her name thrice was convincing enough, at last, she had to cry. Only the difference being, she wept and let him witness rather than cry in a corner of her room. Arisha halted and pivoted around, just to reassure him.
"I am not crying" Her eyelids were wet, nasal bridge red, and lips were swollen, she repeated, "I am not crying" Tushant stopped just as she said that for the first time, and studied her facade. He took a few steps closer, to completely be able to hear her, and it was too close, otherwise, he could not listen to her yell. She repeated herself, which made him fold his arms over his chest.
"Huh? Are you trying to pretend?" He voiced and she shook her head.
"We're missing the class" Tushant reminded.
"We?" She doubted, to which he nodded and waited for her to either walk away or continue, " You can definitely leave me alone and make an appearance there" She added, tilting her head.
"I mean it...I want you to leave, leave me alone" Exaggerating all the syllables Arisha voiced.
"But we are meant to attend the musi-"
"I don't want to" She breathed out and added with a frown, "But you should"
' Why do you keep intruding in my life?' Her insides screeched hard.
He was bitting on the insides of his cheek and eyed her narrowly. Pushing himself to come up with a convincing excuse to drag her back and the most dramatic one struck him, "I won't go until you come with me. I wouldn't like to"
This is a bit too much, he thought to himself.
She was now loaded with humor, tears drying up but her cheeks continued to be damp. Soon she erupted smiling and exploded into laughter while he joined in, shortly.
"Seriously? Who would ever suggest that you'd be so histrionic, theatrical..." Arisha managed to say between giggles while she eyed his tall figure from top to bottom and again from toes to head, "Melodramatic" She added, while making air quotes with her fingers.
"Yes, at least for now...maybe?" He raised one of his brows in confusion. Arisha offered him a tight, though genuine smile and turned around to walk onwards. He didn't intervene this bit but followed her and somehow Arisha knew he was tracking back, not sure if on purpose. She tried to catch a glimpse of him from the corner of her eye,
"I will be missing my next class" She voiced, "I guess I'll be busy...crying?" A playful smile recreated on her lips, and she sensed him halt behind her though her feet led her forward, taking tiny steps to enable him to catch up and he didn't. He preferred walking a few feet behind her.
"Me too. Since I was tasked to keep you from crying" She could easily discern his smug smile from the manner of his voice. Finally, he saw her thwart, by a fancy shop which read, 'Ice-bubble' He caught a peek at her gloss, it darted a childish smile, but her eyes didn't take part. As they were previously, on the other Sunday. He immediately knew, her mood was something related to her parent's relationship, the ruined one, she talked about earlier and it left him helpless. He didn't know the way it would feel like, how she felt about it. His mom and dad share a lovely relationship, one that could be made to last for eternity. He has never had such issues, though he could make out her pain, a minor's pain when she is completely neglected, one that loses her parents.
Arisha dragged him out of his trance by asking an unanticipated question, "Do you have money?"
He studied her for a while before making a motion halfway between nodding and shaking his head in an attempt to deny and agree, all at the same time.
"What is that square shape you just did with your head?" She said, making him chuckle. He slid out his phone from his back pocket and informed, "I don't carry money" She suspected that he prefers paying online. Maybe? Is he eighteen already?
