Clarke's POV

"Clarke!" I heard my mother snap "we're going now! Hurry up!"
"Coming" I called

I was sat on the floor in my room. My old room. I looked around and took in the empty room. My mom had painted it white when we put the house up for sale but it just reminded me of hospitals. Where my mom spent everyday at work and I spent most evenings when my father fell ill. I looked over at the blue smudge on the back of the white door. It bought back the memories of having a paint fight with Harper. Giggling like little children do. That was a few years back. 8 years to be precise. My heart shattered into a thousand pieces. Saying good bye to this house and my childhood made my heart ache, like a young couple having their first argument.

I looked around the room one last time before I got up to leave. The dents in the carpet my bed made and the mark on the carpet from the first time I drank red wine and ended up getting so drunk, I spilt it everywhere stood out more now. The memories bought a tear to my eye, which quickly cascaded down my cheek and ended up on my tongue leaving a salty taste behind.

I quickly checked I hadn't made my mascara run before I headed downstairs. My mom was packing the last of our possessions into a small cardboard box. Her long hair tumbled down her back and almost reached the waistband of her jeans. As I reached the bottom of the stairs, she turned around and smiled at me, something I hadn't seen her do since my dad died a few months ago.

We were moving back to Arcadia, my birth town. We only moved away due to my dad's work. Mom still had friends in Arcadia so we were moving back for her.

As I sat in the front of the car, with a small box on my lap, I couldn't help but wonder if I would recognise anyone. That is apart from Jasper and Monty, my old best friends. They didn't count though, seeing as we had kept in touch the whole time we were away. And, I wanted to recognise more people that I used to be friends with because Jasper and Monty were extremely cut off from the world.
