Chapter 8: An Apology

Fitz dropped her off when it was starting to get dark.

"This was so nice of you Fitz. I had a wonderful time,"

"I had a great time too," he said giving her a brief kiss.

"I love you,"

"I love you too,"

"See you tomorrow," he stood on the leapmaster and shouted "Everglen!"

Once he left Sophie went to her room and took a shower. When she changed Edalien peeked her head through the door.

"How did it go?" she said with goofy grin.

"Mom..." she groaned covering her face with her hands.

"Fine I won't intrude but I just want to know what happened,"

"Fine. I will give the briefest of summaries," she said as Edaline came to sit on the edge of her bed.

"Okay you may begin," 

"Fitz brought me to this lovely place and he set up a picnic. It was so so sweet of him..." she stopped mid-sentence when she started daydreaming about Fitz. 

"Sophie? Sophie! SOPHIE!!" Edaline said snapping me out of my daze.

"Where was I?" Sophie asked blushing crimson red but Edaline just smiled at it.

"You said something about a picnic," she said giving another goofy grin. Sophie looked down and looked up a minute later.

"As I was saying we had a picnic and when we finished it was sunset and we sat under a tree and watched it and before he brought me back we did a little star gazing," she concluded.

"Aww. I'm glad you had a good time," she said going to Sophie and kissing her on the top of her head.

"Thanks mom and you won't tell Grady right?" 

" No but if he does ask I will tell him exactly what you said" she said heading for the door.

"Thanks. Good Night mom,"

"Good night sweetheart," she turned off the lights and left the room.

Sophie instantly fell into a deep sleep dreaming about a certain teal eyed boy and thinking about how caring, loyal, sweet, kind, and handsome he was. 

Time Skip to the next day at foxfire during lunch and everyone was having fun laughing and joking around when someone walked up to their table.

"Keefe?" 

"Hey," he said nervously when he saw how Fitz glared at him as if he wanted to kill him.

"What are you doing here?"

"I haven't been around that much because of what happened and I realized that I needed to apologize for what I did and I am really sorry. You didn't deserve that and if you don't want to be my friend I get that," he said fidgeting with his fingers.

"You know what? I forgive you. That was really nice of you and I would never hate you," Sophie said looking up at him.

"Thanks Sophie," he said before turning to Fitz. "So do I have my best friend back?" 

"I will forgive you if you promise me something" he said

"Of course," he asked with pleading eyes.

"Do not do that again. If you do I WILL rip your hair off," he threatened

"I promise," he said sitting down

"What did he do?" Biana asked.

"I don't want to talk about it," Sophie said.

"But you promised me,"

"Fine." she whispered it to her and she gasped really loud.

"Oh my god!" she said staring at Keefe.

"He said he was sorry," Sophie insisted.

"Okay okay if you let it go I will too," Biana said.

"Do you guys want to do something fun?" Keefe asked with a smirk
