Ray and I dove back into the warehouse to save our dear friend, swords flying and adrenaline coursing through our veins. It didn't take long to reach Vin's attackers, separate the crowd get them away from him. The sad thing is that as soon as he was free, I was thrown to the floor and just barely missed having a monster rip out my stomach. Luckily somebody grabbed it from behind, making him fly backwards. I looked up at my savior expecting to see one of my team mates, instead I see my dad smiling down at me. He is dressed in a set of sweet looking armour, a dagger strapped to his belt and a sword in hand. He helped me to my feet and continued to fight the winged demons around us. All of the sudden Blood grabs my father and holds a dagger to his throat.
"Let him go, Blood. I am the one you want, not him. Let us go!" As I said the last few words I charged at the enemy with flaming fists. I fired a flame at his face, successfully hitting the side of his left cheek. He screamed in pain and immediately dropped his weapon. I took this chance to slam him into the wall. I was soon accompanied by all three of my friends and they held him down while I continued to smash him around. I failed to notice that the villain was laughing the whole time. I stopped pounding him into the dirt for a minute and questioned his strange reaction to the beating. After a lot of getting nowhere, the four of us finally retreated from the battlefield. As soon as we were all safe I turned to my dad and hugged him tightly.
"How did you know we needed help?" My voice was slightly muffled by his shoulder. He ganged down at me with his kind eyes and pulled me closer.
"Father's instinct I guess." He winks at me as we all laugh. I also notice Ray nod at him and smile gratefully.
"So I take it you called for help?"
" you were about to be eaten, what else was I supposed to do?!" Ray says in all seriousness. More laughter from the peanut gallery. We all head back to home base. Once again, we are in front of the Council. I have finally figured out their names, the short thin man to the left of us is Carter, beside him is Jackson, the decent looking younger woman is Alysha and then there's Clent. I didn't mind Alysha but the others bothered me. Clent asks me a series of questions regarding the mission. I was disappointed to say how badly we failed, but to my surprise Clent just smiled and congratulated us for coming back alive. After the meeting. The four of us rewarded ourselves with milkshakes and hamburgers. We joked and ate junk food for at least an hour until my dad decided to show me how to clean and polish my sword. We made our way to the weapons closet to retrieve a large bucket of clothes, sponges and polish. First we soaked the sponges with regular soap and water, then we used the cloth to rub a dab of polish over the blade. The first time I ran the cloth over sword I cut myself. I was then taught how to hold the sword so that I was less likely to lose a finger. As soon as our weapons were clean, we decided to train a little bit before calling quits for the evening.
