Vin sat down on the bench beside Ray while I sat on the floor across from them. I listened carefully as Ray told me how my powers make me unique and different.
"We are taking a guess and saying you are the fabled 'prophecy' child. It is said that a special child will save the world from an evil force that could deatroy the universe." I just sat there, thinking about what she had just said. Prophecy child? My life isn't good enough to be some special kid who needs to fight monsters! If I am 'unique' than why did I not know about these powers before?
"You are most likely the prophecy child because of your past." She started to say slowly. She paused for a moment, waiting for a response.
"How do you know about my past? Did you have some sort of spy cameras in my house?!" I was getting to be a little freaked out at the idea of these people I had just met watching me 24/7.
Vin chuckled and looked at me, that beautiful smile on his face.
"No no, nothing like that. We know about you mostly through your parents." That got me super confused, how the heck did they know both my parents? My mom died before I was even a month old!
As if he had read my mind, he looked at me and told me that anyone with our powers can not die with age, only if they are killed. I had no idea whether I should believe this or not.
"So, you're saying that unless something kills me I will live forever?" I was somewhat amazed by his statement. Ray started to giggle.
"And what may i ask are you laughing at?" Her smile grew wider and she began to really laugh at me.
"Seriously, what the h-" She interrupted me. Between laughs she managed to say the look on my face was absolutely priceless. Does that mean this is all a crule joke? Is this really happening?
"We are immortal or the most part. And we need to train you because you are the only person who can defeat the world's greatest enemy. His name was Nicholas, but he goes by Blood now." She seemed upset at the thought of this bad person. Not upset as in she hated Blood because he was a really bad dude and he could be the end of the world, but as in he was an old friend that went bad.
"He was not just a friend, he was my older brother." Ok, really they have got to stop this mind reading thing! is that one of their powers?
"Our powers actually, you can do it if you wanted to." Both of them laughed again, this was getting annoying.
"Continue my life's story please. I would like to know who i am before next week." I say in the most sarcastic voice possible. Vin went on to tell me Blood's plans to destroy life as we know it and have his monsters run the place, along with killing all of our kind. All because of something that happened six hundred years ago.
"Ok hold on a minute, so how old are you two and why do you still look so young?"
"I'm one thousand years old and Ray is actually nine hundred years old. We still look like this because all of us immortals can have the option to choose what they want to look like for eternity. Here's something creepy for you to have in your head, your dad could have stayed looking the same age you are forever, but he is really ten thousand years old."
Oh jeez thanks Vin, I sooo wanted to have that burned into my mind, is there a way to wipe my head clean of any memories from the last five minutes?!
"Yes but we ain't telling you, you're so welcome!"
