Our Separate Ways

Kuttu woke, quietly. She crept out of her couch-bed, and nearly jumped after seeing Anita eating a chocolate-chip cookie in her balcony, looking up into the orange sky. "Hi K, you can join me. I know you're there. Grab a mint popsicle, and come to the balcony." said Anita, softly smirking. Kuttu giggled sheepishly, and opened up the fridge. Lil'ta made very strange popsicles, with flavors like mint or rose, even chicken wings. But as soon as Kuttu bit into the mint popsicle she instantly loved it. "Mmf..Aani, this is GOOD." Kuttu said, wolfing it down and sitting next to Anita. "Yup," said Anita. 'Mami makes this all the time. Pap's starting to sneak out at night and eating them.' Kuttu nodded, happily eating. "I love sunrises like this, so pretty and orange. I think I'll ask Jiti if she could paint this." said Kuttu peacefully, looking out to the horizon. "Kuttu. I just realised something. We're both going in different directions. You to Asan, me to Dilmann. I might not see you until we vanquish Xandivander. So before we go our separate ways, I give you a shake of the hand. Or is it hand of the shake? Oh well! I offer you a, um...hand-shake. It was good knowing you, Miss Kuttu." said Anita, with the same regal air as her mother. "Yeah, um...thanks. But..let's enjoy this one single moment, before we head off into different, dark, and dangerous places. It kind of..reminds of back home. I wonder what the boys are doing right now. Eh, probably missing me." said Kuttu, chuckling softly. To be honest, she was very scared, and wondered what lay in the future. Life had gone off track.

"I'm feeling very queasy. This is definitely not going to be easy-peasy." said Kuttu, accidentally rhyming. Anita laughed, and clapped her friend on the back. "Seriously, that is so funny, girl. You should do that more often." she said teasingly. Mittu yawned and got up. "Morning. You're up early!" said Mittu. "I'm always up early, you nincompoop. And by the way, give me back that 20 ęceli you took from me." said Kuttu knowingly. "Oh come on! To be honest, I liked you better when you were gullible. But pwease?! We passed this really nice chocolate shop and there was a 50% offer for a milk chocolate bear." said Mittu, making puppy eyes. Of course, she was terrible at it."I'd make a profit if I give the shopkeeper 20 ęceli instead of 10, and then he'd have to give me back 10! I'd then transfer to rupees, and 1 ęceli is 100 rupees. So, I'd be RICH! Holla!" Mittu squealed, dancing around. "Why did YOU have to learn Profit and Loss, Mittu the Businesswoman?" Kuttu sighed. "It's called life, sweetheart. Now ON! I want that bear." said Mittu proudly. "Nuh-uh, not so fast. RIGHT after I have my coffee," said Anshu groggily. "You have coffee? Teenage mystery revealed!" Nandini said, making an imaginary headline with her arms. "I'm joking, silly. But I WOULD like a sandwich now that you've mentioned food." Anshu replied, giggling. "Up and at it, everyone! Lil'ta and Palon're waiting outside so let's go, and Mahi, stop shaking Fred just because he used your toothpaste." Luoxia yelled, strutting into the room. "It's only meant for special purposes! The raspberry flavour doesn't stay for long!" Mahi shouted in protest. After two minutes, everybody flounced out only to see a very small car. A Volkswagen, to be exact. "Well? Get in, and don't worry. It's big on the inside. We Alixsës call it a Boundless." Palon said reassuringly.

Kuttu stepped in and was nearly taken by surprise. A lavish living room with white marble walls and gold-plated furniture stood before them. Nandini and Chakrika immediately started squealing after they saw a huge pool, and jumped in, fully dressed. "A sequel to Amari and the Night Brothers?! I didn't even know there was one!" Kuttu exclaimed, scanning the large bronze bookshelf. "Pfft, losers. Going after pools and books when the REAL DEAL is this home cinema," Mittu said, rolling her eyes as she sat in a deluxe armchair in front of a giant projector. "Pamper yourselves kids. Before the real deal happens." Palon smiled.  Meanwhile, Danske, the Parkinos' long-time driver was in a cheerful mood, whistling Madilyn Bailey's My Worst. "You can't break my heart if I break it first, na-na-na-hmmm.." he hummed. Suddenly, a hand started choking him. As he suffocated, a woman with grey-red eyes and a Chinese stature came into view. "TELL ME, where.is.the.Chosen.One." A raspy but serious voice rang out. "She..she ain't here. Don't know nothin'. Blimey, let me go! Alrigh', alright,  I did see a curly-locked girl gettin' in this Boundless." Danske said, frightened enormously. "Good. I want you to deliver a message to this..girl. Tell her Wong Chi, Xandivander's loyal general, is going to have her killed by the likes of the Winter Goblins so she better watch out. If she even tries to go to Light City, if she escapes from them, and I know she can, I'll kill her sister. Got it, Danske Lepan?" Wong Chi said calmly. Danske agreed squeakily. She then leapt out and jumped into a portal. Danske wheezed, rubbing his sore throat and wincing at the slight cut Wong had made. "I have to get that darn message otherwise the Wing Chi lady gon' get me." Danske admitted; the man was quite a coward (He fainted when his son was being born and ran away.)
