Chapter 12

Author's POV:

"Mom! Dad! Zeke!" Eren shouted as soon as he entered their house with Mikasa. "Eren!" Zeke shouted and ran to Eren, hugging him tightly and Eren hug him back. Mikasa rolled her eyes.

"Hi Mr and Mrs.Yeager" Mikasa smiled at them and they smiled at her back. "Mikasa, you know you can call us mom and dad, right? Even we don't actually adopt you" Carla said softly and rubbed Mikasa's head. Mikasa smiled at her and nodded her head.

"Well, you guys can go change and take a shower, we will go out and eat today!" Grisha shouted. Mikasa turned around to meet her adoptive brothers who were still hugging each other. "Boys?" Both Eren and Zeke looked at Carla with raised eyebrows.

Mikasa sighed. "What is it?" Zeke asked as he let go of Eren. "Zeke, let Eren take a shower, and then you can continue hugging him" Carla said and Zeke smiled at her.

He let go of Eren and patted his head. Eren smiled at him and punched his stomach and ran to his bedroom. "Eren!" Eren stuck his tongue out at Zeke and laughed, he continued to run to his bedroom.

Mikasa shook her head and gave Grisha and Carla a nod before she went to her room to get ready.

"So, how college?" Carla asked. They all were inside Grisha's car. "College is fine, not at all, but I still can survive" Eren respond and Zeke snorted.

"And why's that?" Carla laughed. Eren laughed and glanced at Mikasa who was smiling, looking at outside from the window of their car. "Y'know, college is stressful. That's why I said I still can survive! I'm a strong boy after all" All of them laughed.

Eren smiled and felt his brother's hand on his head, petting him. "You never changed" Zeke chuckled and Eren gave him a smirk. "You expect me to change into an animal or sum?" Eren asked with a laugh.

Zeke shook his head and glanced at Mikasa, Eren was in the middle of the two. "Mikasa, you awfully quiet today, something's wrong?" Mikasa sighed quietly and rolled her eyes on Zeke's question. Mikasa looked at him.

"Nothing, just thinking" Mikasa's answer made Carla, Eren and Zeke looked at her. "What are you thinking about, Mikasa? If you have problems, you can talk to me or your dad" Mikasa felt her lips tremble at Carla's words. Mikasa was fighting herself to not cry in front of them.

Mikasa was always sensitive about the word "mom" and "dad" since she had lost her parents at a young age. Every time Carla, or even her husband said she can call them "mom" and "dad", she will cry.

She had called Carla "mom" once by accident when she was little. The next hour, she still found herself crying on Carla's chest.

They never actually adopt her. They were just trying to help her since Eren found her on the street, alone. They just think of Mikasa as their daughter, they never actually adopt her.

Mikasa glanced at Eren and Eren looked at her with worried face. "About my friend" Mikasa answered, still looking at Eren. "Eh? Your friend? What's their name?" Grisha asked, eyes still focused on road.

"Annie, Annie Leonhart" Mikasa answered, staring at the sky, not wanting to make eye contact with Eren anymore. "Is she your girlfriend, Mikasa?" Zeke asked with a teasing tone, getting a hit on the head by Eren as response. "Nah, we're just friends" Ouch.

She just hurted herself just by saying they're just friends. But it's true, though. They only friends. Annie had a boyfriend. She can't do anything.

"Well, if you say so" Carla said. Mikasa frowned and glanced at her who was..smiling? She couldn't tell since she can't see that clear, she only looked at Carla from the corner of her eyes.

She shook her head and continued looking out through the window. Eren and Zeke was talking about something that includes animal. She payed them no mind and continued to daydreaming about something that could make her feel a little bit better.
