The sun shined through the window, causing Davide to stir. He slowly sat up and shattered out the window. Snow was piled up, the yard was just a white layer that reached up to the window. He realized what happened and rubbed his chin. It probably was not the smartest idea to walk into some random house and stay overnight. He could have been stabbed or shot last night. He looked around. "Looks like this place hasn't been used in years," he said to himself as he walked to the front door. He looked out the window and cursed as he saw the snow piled up to the window of the door. He stretched a bit as he frowned. "Too much snow to leave" he turned around and looked around. The main room was huge. There was a sofa along every wall of the room, a giant table in the middle, vases with wilted flower stems in them lined the middle of the table. He walked to the first door on his left. He opened it and looked around, seeing that this was a kitchen, he walked in. A counter lined the whole kitchen, a stove, and an oven on each side. He walked to the faucet and turned the nob. His eyes got wide as he saw that, somehow, it still worked. "How the hell..." he mumbled as he looked around some more. All the cabinets were filled with a variety of plates, bowls, and silver wear. He noticed a plaque on the wall. "Demeter Nova, Daughter of..." the two names seemed to be scratched out. "1817-1900" Davide blinked a bit. Damn this place is old He thought to himself as he walked out of the kitchen. Out of the corner of his eye, he noticed a shadow move, but as he looked there was nothing but three scratches on the wall, which he noticed when he entered the night before. He sighed as he walked around to the other rooms of the house. There was a bathroom, another bedroom. and a washroom, all with working faucets and running water. He walked back to the bedroom where he spent the night and sat down in the chair by the desk. He pulled a book out of one of the drawers he had searched through and opened it. It seemed like a journal. He opened it and started reading.

Dear book,

I am probably crazy for writing about stuff in a book, but some stuff needs to be said and be hidden at the same time. I doubt anyone will ever read this as HE will find it and destroy it. Today will be short as I have just recently noticed the strange occurrences around the house. scratch marks on walls, which have my parents blaming me. footsteps at night that I once thought to be my parents, only to open the door and hear nothing and see nothing. And the shadowy figures I see out of the corner of my eye. Aunt Demeter said that I'll be stuck here until someone comes and saves me. my parent calls her crazy, which she is, but that's beside the point. Hopefully, my family finds a place of our own and we can leave aunt Demeter here. Until next time

Natalia Nova.

Davide rubbed his chin as he read it. sounded like the usual paranoid child. he shook his head and looked outside. It was already dark out. he yawned and called it a day. He frowned a bit as tomorrow he would need to look for extra clothes.
