The rest of the shift was just the same, and Aidan got some snarky shit from other customers as well; pour Louisa was just in the middle of a brutal social-media war zone. That Sydney girl eventually got kicked out, which meant all of her friends were on my back the entire shift. Well, some of her 'friends' were actually gossiping about her to me, which was really interesting and helped to link up her actions, whilst her 'real ones' tried their best to keep my on my toes.

Aidan was pestered a lot by mainly the girls, but the boys and boyfriends of said influencers had a chip on their shoulder for him. Aidan isn't as explosive as I am when it comes to dealing with shifty customers, but I only broke my customer service character because of Sydney's last question. Ok, yes, me and Aidan both had a few adrenaline-fuelled rows with bitter customers because we had to apply the rules- and the customers didn't like it- but that's our only reason! Louisa had to get involved when they started getting aggressive with us, like throwing drinks at Aidan over the bar and girls trying to grab my hair! We resulted in removing a quarter of our guests from the bar, and issuing warnings to another quarter to keep them controlled. Safe to say, it's been madness!

We finished cleaning everywhere just before half past one, and now me and Aidan are waiting on Louisa to finish off a final admin job that we aren't allowed to do ourselves. Once Louisa has clocked off our hours on the machine, we all silently made our way to the elevator that takes us down to the lobby, which feels like it's going at a snail's pace tonight.

"Oh, Cassie, Kai called me to tell you he's outside, and he also got your phone for you." Aidan yawns, slipping his phone back in his pocket.

"Oooo, so the rumours between you and Havertz are true?" Louisa teases me, raising her eyebrows at me. "Your secret is safe with me!"

"I don't actually know what's going on between me and him." I chuckle admittedly, sorting my hair out in the mirror behind me. "We don't act like a couple, but it feels like we're more than friends."

"Crazy how you would've never met Kai if you didn't work here." Louisa adds, shrugging her shoulders at me. "Must be Cosmo's luck."

Ha! That's one of our little sayings behind the bar, and I'll explain it to you now! Basically, everyone working behind the bar was single before they joined, apart from Ollie. If it wasn't for this place opening, Bobby wouldn't be getting married next year, Louisa wouldn't have met her boyfriend and one of our old employees wouldn't have met his girlfriend either!

Yes, I'm talking about the employee that I stopped talking to once he left.

Which is why we've started this thing called 'Cosmo's luck', which apparently I've been added to even though there's nothing going on between me and Kai? Well, ok, there is, but neither of us have ever questioned it nor felt like we're making a move on one another. It's all just felt... natural? I don't want to ask him about it, that'll make it look like I've been seeking a relationship from him the entire time when I haven't. For now I'm content with everything going on around me, so I'll question it when I want to.

"How are you guys getting back?" I ask, deflecting the conversation to something a little bit more neutral.

"I'm driving home, Aidan's coming with me because he's on the way." Louisa tells me as we walk out the elevator. "Am I working with you both next week?"

"Yep, our final shifts." Aidan grins, causing Louisa to gasp as we get outside. "I'll tell you about it when we get going, see you later Cass!"

Just down the road, a new Audi car revs it's engine to get my attention. I hold back a smile as I rush to the car, checking the road before dashing across, going around the car and leaping into the passenger seat. A gush of heat washes over me as I get in the car, and the seat has already been warmed up. I lay back in the seat and close my eyes, smiling at the thought of just going to sleep right here. Kai chuckles to himself as we drive off, the ride feeling so smooth that I can hardly tell we're moving.

"Good night?" He asks, focussing on the empty roads ahead.

"Goodnight." I hum, feeling sleepy and relaxed already.

"No-" Kai interrupts himself with another laugh, shaking his head at me. "I meant did you have a good night?"

Fuck!

"Oh! God no, horrendous." I explain, my eyes widening in embarrassment as I realise I'm getting too settled in the passenger seat. "Some girl tried climbing over the bar to get me!"

"Why, what did you do to her?" Kai asks with a smirk.

"I had a go at her for asking about mine and your sex life." I scoff, completely wiping the smile off of his face. "She's just asking about rumours, I didn't say anything."

We spoke about my shift all the way until the car stopped, then it took me a moment to realise that we weren't at my apartment building. Instead, we've stopped in a completely different neighbourhood that I don't recognise. It takes a few seconds for me to realise where we are, and by the time I've clocked it, Kai has gotten out the car and pulled my door open for me. I'm so used to going back to my house, and now that we're in outside of his front door I can't help but feel jittery. We walk up the steps to his front door, and he gives me a smile over his shoulder as he pulls out his keys.

"You cooked me dinner, so I invite you over!" Kai explains as I give him a concerned look.

"But all of my stuff?" I wonder, stepping inside as he opens the door, guiding me in with him.

"The joys of having your spare key." Kai reminds me, holding up my key on his own chain. "Your phone is upstairs if you want it, and I left you a bag of clothes."

I give him a nod, walking up the spiralling stairs whilst observing everything around me. It's obviously all very modern, like a typical male house, but with higher standards than usual. It feels a bit like when you go to see your a rich friend of your parents that you see once a year, and every time you see them they've got a completely new, elegant, spotless house.

I look around the rooms, finding a bag on top of one of the beds. Next to it is my phone, which has been turned off for a full 24 hours now. The dark screen looks peaceful, like a sleeping baby that would scream in a frenzy if you accidentally nudged it awake. After what I experienced tonight in person with people who spend their life on social media as their job, I can only imagine what everyone else's reactions are. Are they going to interfere more with mine and Kai's life? What about those people who are pissed at Aidan for no reason? What if I just got a new phone, got all new socials and completely ignored everything?

I scoff at my dramatic reaction, snatching my phone from the bed and taking it downstairs, where Kai lounges on the sofa with his arms rested on the back of the sofa behind him. He scooches over as I sit next to him, one of his arms falling over my shoulders as I tiredly get closer. He notices my phone in my hands, then inhales lightly through his nose as he remembers I haven't seen a single thing on social media yet. I look up at him, noting his reaction before looking back to my phone.

"Is it bad?" I ask, my finger hovering over the buttons, ready to turn it back on.

"See for yourself." Kai nods, looking down at me. "Don't pay too much attention to them though, social media is all just attention seeking."
