~Sarah’s POV~
I took out the spicy chicken enchiladas from the oven and noticed the cheese in the middle wasn’t cooked all the way through. I sighed and used my heat vision to heat it up. Although I enjoy cooking the old fashion way every once in a while, I’m not afraid to cheat. I stuck the meal on the dining room table which my team was already around.
“Why are we doing this again?” Emily asked with her eyebrow up.
“Because all of us are home today and we need some family lunch time.” I replied before taking my seat at the table. “And we can talk about things.”
“Like gorgeous potential boyfriends.” Lauren said with a wink.
“Wait,” Judy said with a mouth full of rice, “We can date?!”
“Of course we can date.” Emily said before putting an enchilada on her plate.
“Yep.” I added on
“So, how come you guys don’t have boyfriends?” Judy asked before covering her mouth at what she just said.
“For you information, we have high standards.” Emily said looking Judy straight in the eyes.
“It was just a question.” Lauren laughed before accidently getting salsa on her shirt. “Whoops! Anyways, Judy, all of us have been out on many dates. I had my first boyfriend about six months ago actually. I dated him for about four months and I thought I was in love. I guess I was stupid six months ago.”
“How did it end?” Judy asked again. She was really good at asking questions…I bet she rocked at the game twenty questions…
“What end?” Lauren thought for a second, “O you mean the relationship! Sorry my mind was elsewhere. Anyways it was our four month anniversary, yes we did celebrate every month we were together, and I was going to tell him about Avalanche. That afternoon, however, right before our date I caught him cheating on me with some girl in the park! So I broke up with him.”
“I actually recently got out of a really good relationship,” I said trying to make a mood a bit better, “but ours is more of a temporary break. He had to move across the country for his music and we didn’t want to try and juggle the pain of a long distance relationship.”
“As much fun as talking about past relationships is, I want to change the subject,” Emily said with a slight smile. “I bought everyone presents.”
“Huh?” Lauren asked through her food.
“Ta da!” Emily said while throwing three silver boxes on the table.
“What is it?” I asked while examining it from a distance.
“They’re communicators! We can use them if we split up while we are fighting or if we need each other to fight! I even have them connected to our scanner so when our microwave goes off, they will go off!” Emily said with excitement.
“So they are like walkie-talkies?” Lauren asked
“They are much better than those.” Emily said getting slightly frustrated.
“So they are like cell phones?” she asked again
“Except we can only call each other on them.” Emily answered, smile already gone.
“So their like cheap cell phones?” Lauren asked
Emily stopped for a moment thinking of how to answer without snapping. “I painted on your symbols to the back of your communicator.”
