Baobei

Past

A small boy nearing 1 year old was found abandoned near gates of Lanlingjin palace. One of the disciples informed us when I and Wu Xin were discussing sect affairs. We immediately rushed outside to check and lifted the child bringing him inside the palace.

Yuan was teaching martial arts to the disciples on training ground. On seeing the child in my arms he came towards us. "Whose child is this?"

Wu Xin - "Someone left him outside the palace ".

Making faces Yuan took the child in his arms and started playing with him. "Spread the word in sect if any child is missing then their parents can come to the palace to claim. Till then we will keep it here".

Days passed and Yuan started developing affinity towards the boy. Never beforeI knew that he loved children so much. Sleeping singing lullaby and waking up early morning with his cry had become his daily routine.

Almost one month had passed that Baobei became part of our lives. As we weren't aware of baby's true name we started calling him Baobei. Baobei, Wu Xin's children Jin Jian and Jin Qiang and Fairy's children Pretty, Jamine and Princeling were all playing together in Rock garden. He had become part of our family fixing the missing puzzle.

Looking at them from our room's balcony Yuan said, "Rulan, did you get any information on Baobei's parents? Who are they? Where are they?"

Jin Ling - "There is no revert from anyone. Seems like he is an orphan or his parents don't want him anymore"

Yuan - "I was thinking should we keep Baobei with us forever".

Embracing him from behind I whispered in his ears, "Only if you promise like yesterday you won't make him sleep between us".

His eyes widened. "Rulan, he is small".

I was just teasing him. Pretending to be disappointed I moved away from him when he pulled me making me land on his lap. Snaking his hands inside my robes he continued, "What if I promise I will repent for it next day".

I am sure I had been smiling at his answer. Cupping his cheeks I continued,"I was just kidding. Even I was thinking of asking the same. We all have got attached to him in this past month. I have seen that Baobei makes you smile. Soon, I will ask Wu Xin to arrange for his one month ceremony where we will also name him".

We all were happy and invites for one month anniversary was sent to all sect leaders. Both I and Yuan never had this function for ourselves so we wanted to make it grand. We visited Gusu and shared this news with Hanguang-Jun, Wei Wuxian and Jingyi.

Jingyi's wife Lan Lin was expecting her second child then. Teasing his wife Jingyi said, "You should also come else my child will be deprived of tasty food from Lanlingjin". His elder son Lan Bai was excited to go to function outside Gusu. He finds Gusu to be too strict especially Hanguang-Jun. I wonder what would have been his reaction when Lan Qiren ruled Gusu. Jiang uncle, Wu Xin and Nei Yanyi all were happy for us. Life was exactly how I wished it to be.
