Life with Yuan

It has been two years since we permanently moved to Yunmeng. Each and every day with Yuan is beautiful.

One day Yuan raised his concern, "Now a days, I see you avoiding Wu Xin a lot. What is it? I am happy long back you gave him a chance. I have sometimes envied your comradeship. There are very few people who are close to you, close to him. And you two have been there for each other always. He has risked his life several times for you. You too have always been wary of his feelings and his needs. What is it that is taking you two apart?"

I have been avoiding him and this conversation from Yuan from long time. But, I knew this will come. Sharing my worries with him I told him, "What if I doubt he has criminal intent?"

Yuan - "Did he commit anything heinous? Has any lives endangered due to him? Talk to him, find out what he feels. If he is wrong then pull him to the right path. Kill the crime, Kill the criminal intent but not the criminal at least not when he has not committed any crime yet".

Rulan - "It is not only limited to this. You remember we went out to hunt water ghouls together. There he was trying to compete you. He was trying to prove his skills has improved and he is becoming stronger and better than you".

Yuan laughed out loud. "Seriously! This is what is bothering you Rulan? This is what a cultivator is not supposed to do? To improve his cultivation skills". Kissing my lips he continued "Rulan, you are so adorable. Don't you feel he is right?" Getting closer to me he whispered in my ears "Don't you feel the way we have been living from past few months if I encounter any ghost I will end up giving him pleasures rather than defeating him with my fighting skills".

Pulling him much closer leaving no gap between us I continued, "Dare you touch anyone except me"

Straightening his back he said "We have been so busy and so much into each other that we have stopped going on night hunt as well. I think we should start night hunting to improve our skills. So, that we are at par or better than others. But before that I would like you to resolve your differences with Wu Xin. He is our family and we cannot leave him behind just like that".

Agreeing to Yuan we did visit Lanlingjin next day. Wu Xin and Nei Yanyi were glad to see us. Taking Wu Xin aside, I discussed how I felt and my worries. As always he was humble and immediately apologized for his behavior. "I am sorry if my behavior has hurt you or Lan Sizhui. It was quite evident Sizhui was disinterested in his actions. Like a moron, instead of understanding him, helping him or encouraging him it was my fault to blabber non sense. I don't know what I was thinking. I assure you this won't happen again. Please next time onwards if you feel I am wrong then do scold me in front of everyone but don't stop talking to me or ignoring me". Pulling him into an embrace we moved together at lunch table. Yuan smiled at us assuring he is happy with my decision. Indeed, I was happy too. Why wouldn't I? Wu Xin has been my closest confidant.

Since then, whenever we go to Lanlingjin he made us feel at ease. It is not the bloodline which makes you capable to become a sect leader. Rather it is your skills, abilities and your approach towards your sect which makes you a good sect leader. And Wu Xin has proved that.

I couldn't have asked for a life more beautiful than what I am living today. There is no other feeling special than spending most of your moments of life with your soulmate, seeing him aside you before sleeping, waking up seeing him beside you.

Yuan is opening his eyes and so I closed mine pretending to be asleep. I don't understand what is the use of getting up so early? So, there have been so many days when I am awake and I pretend to be sleeping acting lazy. Shhh.... there is also a secret behind this and that secret is Yuan knows this and so he incentivizes me that if I am awake then we can share our bathtub together. This has almost turned out to be our daily routine.

Feeling his knuckles caressing my face I am trying hard to not show any emotions and living the lie that I am asleep. Kissing my forehead he got up from bed and I am here still lying on bed anxiously waiting for him to ask me to join him in the bathtub.

Door opens.

Breaking the pretense of sleeping I simply sit straight on bed. "Yuan, where are you going?"

Yuan - "Bath"

Rulan - "Aren't you forgetting something? Aren't you supposed to take me with you?"

A smiled played on his lips. "Rulan, I have to go to Cloud Recess today. New batch of disciples will be joining. I want to get dressed and leave early".

"But you won't be here in Yunmeng for next month. We won't be sharing our space together here".

His face drooped suddenly. "I thought... I mean from long time you have been accompanying me to Cloud Recess so .... nothing".

Now I am sure the smile which was on his face has now replaced in mine. Kissing him on his lips I continued, "I said we won't be sharing our space together here. I never said I won't be with you in Gusu".

The smiled that was wiped put off his face again made its gracious presence. But his actions weren't gracious at all. Hitting me on my chest he continued "What kind of silly argument is this".

Later we did bath together but we made it quick as I know Yuan was avoiding me so that he could be punctual as usual.

On our way to Gusu we went through water ways. We sat on opposite side of boat creating balance. Picking up lotus ribs on our way we ate lotus seeds together. I started teasing him with my toes and he was acting as if it is not affecting him. But he does not know how much ever he pretends, I always know how he is feeling. His breathing, his eyes cannot lie to me ever. I could see his grip tightening on yijun and with his every move I was feeling proud of myself. I suggested him we could do other things which would give pleasures to both of us on journey but he was adamant. I teased him and he was still fearing of his water sickness. We only discussed his training plan, gifts that we bought for Lan Ai and Lan Bai. When there was nothing we could do on our way we just looked in each other's eyes so that his mind is diverted and he doesn't feel water sickness anymore.

I think I can look into his eyes for my entire lifetime.

On reaching Gusu, the entry gates were broken. I and Yuan both looked at each other with suspicion. On our path from entry gates to Cloud Recess few trees were burning. Clasping our hands we immediately mount on our swords and took a top view of Gusu. Gusu was burning. People were injured. Today was first day of training. Children of various sect leaders must have joined today for the training. Who must have dared to do such heinous crime and what is the reason behind it?
