One of the major benefits of having a pack is that you can delegate tasks. Derek sends the girls out to buy a crib, a changing table and all the other stuff an almost nine month old little girl needs. He's pretty sure they'll come home with more than what's on the helpful list of essentials they found online, but that's okay. He's more than happy to spend money on Stiles' daughter. Anything to help settle her in.
They'll have to talk about where they'll be living, because Stiles is in his last year at university and officially he still lives with his dad. He spends most of his time in Beacon Hills at the Hale House, though, where he has his own room across the hall from Derek's. For now Billie could sleep in Stiles' room, although it would be a little cramped with the crib and changing table in there as well. It'll help with bonding if they're sleeping in the same room, Derek figures. He's already thinking how his own room is bigger and he would be happy to give it up for Stiles and Billie.

They're not there yet, though. Right now, Stiles has put Billie down for a nap in his own bed, crawling right in with her. With all the excitement of that morning he can use some rest too. The little girl seems to like him, so they're off to a good start. He has even changed her diaper, with a little help from Boyd who has experience babysitting his little cousins. Derek couldn't remember ever changing a diaper, even though there were young kids in his family. He'd kept an eye and an ear out on the small crash course in diaper changing though, taking note of the importance to wipe from front to back, with his ears colouring pink - for Stiles it was his whole face - when Boyd pointed out to not forget to wipe in between the skin folds.
"With boys it's a lot easier," Boyd explained in that deep voice of his, "you can just wipe all over the place, as long as you remember to make their willy point down when you put the diaper back on."

"Oh, I remember that one from a story from my dad!" Stiles laughed nervously. "Apparently I wet the front of my shirt two times in concession before he caught on to that little trick." He proceeded to explain to Billie in a baby voice how she most certainly wasn't a boy and the girl responded by kicking her not yet fastened diaper off the table. Derek left them at it at that point, going to see where Isaac had stored the various assortment of baby food and formula that was in the duffle bag.

When Derek walks by the bedroom a little later, he can hear how Billie is asleep, though Stiles is still very much awake. He cracks the door open and sees Stiles lying on his side in the semi-dark room, his head propped up on his hand so he can watch his daughter sleep. When Stiles sees him, he smiles tiredly. "She cried a little, but she tired out quickly," he whispers.

Derek closes the door behind him and takes a seat at the foot of the bed, careful not to jostle the sleeping girl. "How are you holding up?" he asks quietly.

Stiles makes a face. "Okay, I guess, considering the circumstances."

"I called your dad. He'll come here after his shift." They agreed not to tell the sheriff over the phone. Derek only told him they had to talk to him about something important, considering Stiles and the pack. Noah of course wanted to come over right away, expecting the worst, but Derek convinced him to drop by for dinner after his shift was over. It gives Stiles some more time to get used to the idea of being a father and Derek likes having a little more time to get the house in order for a baby to live there. He already has his mind set on Billie and Stiles living in the pack house and some primal part of him wants to impress the sheriff. He wants to show the man that the baby has a safe place within his pack, his home. Surely it is the most logical option, with the sheriff working long hours and the presence of at least one or two adults at all times in the Hale House.

"He'll love her," Stiles says, a warm smile on his face as he looks down at his daughter. "He'll have a heart attack first, for sure, but he'll love her."
