When they get to the tent, Cora and Isaac produce a picnic blanket and a brightly coloured cloth ball with a bell inside to distract Billie with. Isaac puts her down between his legs and Cora sits opposite them so they can roll the ball back and forth. It takes a couple of tries, but then Billie gets the gist of it and she's invested in getting the ball back to Cora in some way. Or chew on it, that happens too. Stiles hovers close for a while, until he is sure that his kid has forgotten all about the incident. Then he disappears inside the large tent, likely checking if they have all of Billie's stuff. Derek thinks they have enough diapers and clothes for an entire week, so they should be fine for the weekend.

The camping spot is nice, a clearing on the edge of the forest before the trees give way to an open space that holds a large pond. Or a tiny lake, depending how you look at it. There's a jetty sticking out into the water. Boyd, Erica and Malia are already changing into their swimsuits to get into the water and he can hear them trying to convince Stiles to do the same. Jackson and Lydia have disappeared for a walk around the water, though Derek suspects they simply put some distance between them and the rest of the pack to make out in privacy.
Halfway between the lake and the clearing there's a fire pit with logs around it and off to the side there's an outhouse, with an outdoor shower attached to the side. There's even an electricity outlet there, a long reel providing the power needed for their electric cooler and various appliances in the tent. This might not be a camping spot that's open to the public, but it's used pretty regularly by the local pack and their guests. It makes the actions of Benjamin Monroe and his friends even more boneheaded: Derek and his wolves are hardly the first visiting pack.

Peter pulls two beers from the cooler and offers one to Derek, coming to stand next to him. "It's been a while," he says, referring to the last time they came here, when the Hale family had more than three living members.

Derek nods, humming in agreement. It used to hurt, thinking about his family. It still does, though less sharp. It's more like a dull ache in his chest, easily softened when he looks at his own pack. In the distance, he sees Stiles cannonballing into the water, making a huge splash. Any fish that's in there will stay away from this side of the pond for a while.

The two men drink their beer slowly, with Peter making some offhand remarks about things he remembers about this place, like how the outhouse is an improvement over shitting in the woods.

"... let's get you to papa," Derek hears his sister say before she comes over to unceremoniously dump Billie in his arms. He immediately scrunches his nose up, smelling the reason why Cora handed the little girl to him.

"Better make quick work of that," Peter says lightly, taking the almost empty beer can from Derek's hand to dispose of it and sauntering over to the water after Cora and Isaac.

Derek rolls his eyes as his pack leaves him behind, before he turns and ducks inside the tent with Billie, in search of a clean diaper. He finds them quickly, in the front corner of the tent, along with another picnic blanket he can use to lay Billie on. She recently discovered the fun of grabbing for whatever you put near her body - making no distinction between clean or dirty nappies, which makes changing her diaper not exactly easier. Or more hygienic. She also loves to roll over, making it necessary to keep a hand on her at all times to keep her in place. Stiles is better at changing a diaper one handed; for all the times Derek has done this by now, it's infinitely easier when he can use both hands at once. Billie doesn't care about his struggles, she just crows and giggles at his attempts to change her.
When he finally does have a clean diaper on her and she has her yellow pair of leggings back on as well, he puts her in the middle of the nest of blankets and sleeping bags that is gonna be their sleeping spot tonight. She immediately rolls over on her stomach and grabs for the nearest corner of a blanket, stuffing it in her mouth to chew on. "Right," Derek mumbles, "you're probably hungry too."
