You were driving him crazy. Your hair, skin, lips, scent, eyes, personality, smile, and contagious laugh. You were everyone's favorite in school, so what made him different from everyone else. It certainly wasn't hard for him to get what he wanted, but for some unknown reason, that made him pull out his hair from the roots, he couldn't even get you to look at him.
His mind had drifted from the conversation of his friends, who were fighting over who was the prettiest among the popular group, and he was staring at you from across the outside lunch area. You were talking with some of the pathetic freshmen computer tech kids who looked like they wanted to be excepted by the big kids.
"Lucas!" someone shouted, followed by a hand waving in his face. "Are you even listening to our argument?"
Lucas tore his eyes away from you and looked at his friends. Renjun and Mark stared at Lucas for a few seconds before Renjun smirked.
"No. He's not listening. He's drooling over Little Ms. ABE." Renjun laughed and shoved Lucas in his shoulder in a teasing manner.
"What are you talking about?" Mark shoved Renjun in the chest away from Lucas as if to say he was being stupid. Renjun slapped Mark's hands away roughly.
"ABE stands for Adored By Everyone, dipstick. Haven't you been listening for the last five months?" Renjun smirked, folding his arms over his chest while Lucas glared at him from the side of his eyes.
Mark stood there oblivious to what Renjun was referring to, giving him a dumb look. "Are you drunk?"
"Oh my gosh! You oblivious idiot!" Renjun nearly shouted, throwing his hands in the air and then pointing a finger at you and lowering his voice. "I'm talking about Y/n Y/l/n."
"Do you hate the fact that she's liked by everyone and you're not?" Lucas questioned, raising an eyebrow.
"Don't get on my bad side," Renjun warned, stepping up to Lucas who towered over him. He stepped down slightly when Lucas stepped forward.
"Then don't test me, Huang. You mock, call out or make fun of Y/n again you will regret it."
"Just start walking, we're gonna be late for class." Mark sighed, rolling his eyes at the two entitled boys. What they didn't know, was that you had been watching them fight. The scariest part was you read every single word that came from their mouths due to seven years of lip reading classes.
Lucas was gripped by his shoulders and shoved into loud music, flashing lights, and smoke. He coughed slightly at the smoke and laughed loudly as Jaehyun walked with him into the house party. Most of the girls in Lucas high school were in love with him and were always watching his every move. Jaehyun also noticed this and just shooed them away from Lucas in hopes of giving him a chance to breathe.
"Oh for the love of-" Jaehyun snarled when another clingy girl came over to 'chat'. "Scram! Nobody in Ot21 wants to talk to you!"
Her heart faltered in a pathetic frown and sluggishly left. Lucas knew she was playing the victim so Jaehyun would feel bad for sending her away, but it would never work. Jaehyun was as hard as a rock when it came to parties. He had to be or else he would be stepped on by the jocks and their girlfriends.
Lucas was a part of the Music group along with the rest of his twenty-one friends. The Music kids basically ran the school as popular instead of the cheerleaders and jocks. Everyone feared them because the Music kids came from tough backgrounds and knew how to fight their way through anything. The kids that were the most intimidating were; Jaemin, Taeyong, Jeno, Renjun, Johnny, Taeil, Jaehyun, Yuta, Win Win, Haechan (when he was scary), Mark, and Lucas. The rest of the boys were feared because they were associated with the Music kids and knew they would be backed up if they were threatened.
"Let's go into the living room," Lucas spoke to Jaehyun who grabbed them two beers. "I've been on my feet all day."
Jaehyun lead the way into the living room and up a step into a private area where there were a bunch of chairs and couches. Lucas glanced around the room noticing some of the nasty jocks, a few cheerleaders, some of the art and band kids, and...you. His eyes widened and lingered on your figure for longer than necessary before he sat down diagonal from where you were sitting.
"Oooo the feared rulers of the kingdom have arrived." the captain of the jocks teased, taking a swig of whatever was in his red solo cup.
"Ooo look who's trying to sound tough?" Yuta mocked, approaching Lucas from his left. Taeil and Renjun were right behind him.
"Nobody cares," Jaehyun spoke, popping open his bottle with the help of his ring. Lucas peered up at you through his dark lashes and caught you staring at him for the first time. He was amazed but didn't show amazement on the surface.
"I have an idea. Let's play never have I ever. The rules are you can't lie and you have to take a sip of your drink if you have." the squeaky voice from one if the cheerleaders came out so fast that Lucas almost couldn't hear her. A few murmurs were passed around the circle agreeing to play the game.
"Never have I ever lied?"
What were these Kindergarten questions? Nonetheless, Lucas, along with everyone else, took a sip; even you. Lucas then started to become curious. Would you end up being the innocent girl everyone portrayed you to be?
"Never have I ever gotten drunk."
Lucas took a slight sip as you raised your bottle to your lips. He knew that most of the kids in his school have gotten drunk, so it wasn't a surprise to him that you had indeed been drunk.
"Never have I ever slept with someone?"
Half of the group took a sip of their drink, but you kept your bottle down on your lap. Your eyes were now on Lucas who didn't lift his bottle. None of the Music kids did. Either they were lying or it was true.
"Never have I ever committed a crime?"
Okay, these questions were starting to be aimed at Lucas and his friends. Lucas and the rest of them lifted their drinks up. Lucas raised his eyebrow and smirked as you lifted your bottle as well. Not so little miss perfect.
"Never have I ever lied about who I am?"
Everyone lifted their drinks that time and Lucas became amused at your actions. He could not believe he second-guessed you to be someone completely different. But why were you hiding?
"Okay," one of the jocks spoke, amusement coating his voice. Lucas looked over at him to see the jock glance at you. "Never have I ever been in an accident."
Your body stiffened at the word 'accident'. You were hesitant to lift your bottle and Lucas grew angry at the question. Everyone in this school knew that you had been involved in a car accident just last year and your parents were both killed. Your nine-year-old little brother was still in the hospital suffering in a coma.
"Actually. Never have I ever had to decide on whether or not to let someone die or not?"
Lucas shot off the couch and lunged at the jock. Yuta and Jaehyun grabbed him quickly before he could kill the guy. Lucas shook off the two friends and downed his beer before standing in front of you and extending a hand. You took it and allowed him to pull you up. His hand gently pressed on your lower back and gestured you to start walking. You paused and glanced behind you when Lucas removed his hand.
"Brandon. Don't open your mouth." Lucas called, catching the attention of the jock who had verbally attacked you. His frame quickly took the form of a baseball pitcher and he threw his beer bottle at the speed of lightning onto the wall right next to Brandon's head. It popped loudly and shattered onto Brandon. "Or else."
Lucas helped you walk through the crowd of drunk people and out of the house, leaving everything behind. You were confused. Why did Lucas always defend you? Even going as far as injuring someone for you. Of course, you were aware that he liked you, but you didn't think it was so strong.
"You think you can take it from here?" Lucas asked as soon as you reached the sidewalk. You nodded slowly.
"Thank you." you gave Lucas a small smile before beginning your walk to your car. You glanced behind your shoulder to see Lucas watching your every move with a smile as bright as the sun. Maybe you could give him a chance.
