CHAPTER CONTAINS SMUT: 18+
"How?" Stephen was up on his feet instantly, the cloak securing itself on his shoulders. You put your suit jacket back on, hiding any evidence of Stephen's marks from Wong. He didn't need to know that; the poor man had gone through enough shit already.
Stephen met the man at the door as you stayed a few feet away, not quite sure what to do with yourself.
"He was able to best the Ancient One, and he-" Wong paused, apprehensive to finish his sentence. "He killed them."
Oh fuck.
Stephen ran a hand over his face in disbelief, his shoulders sagging slightly. Stepping closer to Stephen, you touched his shoulder in an act of comfort, and he leaned into your touch.
"Do we know where he's at, or where he's heading?" Stephen asked.
Wong's gaze fell on you now. "He's coming here to finish the job, to get the Stone."
Instinctively your hand went to the gem as if you feared it would disappear out of your grasp.
"Great," Stephen muttered. "When's he getting here?"
Shrugging his shoulders, Wong stepped into the library, moving past the two of you. "Any moment, really. We need to prepare. What did you learn about the Stone?"
Letting go of Stephen you made your way to your stack of books, a few sheets of looseleaf paper scattered about that were covered in your notes. Picking them up, you began to read off some of the information.
"Let's see," you began. "The Stones can only be wielded by beings of sufficient power, otherwise the Stone will slowly kill them. Before you panic," you interrupted yourself as you saw Stephen pale slightly. "Before you panic, that only applies to those who try to wield it. There's a different section for those who fuse or merge with the Stone. It says that a Stone will only merge with a being that they see equal to them, which means that it will not kill them.
However, there is no record of a human ever merging with a Stone. The last thing to merge with the Reality Stone was a dark elf named Malekith, and he was killed when his ship crushed him during a fight with Thor.
The texts explicitly state that no human can wield a Stone, so a part of me is wondering, am I completely human? Humans are too weak to the Stones, so why would it choose me, a random human?"
You sat back in your chair, looking up at two men, expecting one of them to say anything. You were met with blank looks. You threw your hands up in exasperation. "Great, now you guys think I'm crazy."
"I mean, I thought you were crazy for liking Stephen, so we've passed that point already," Wong jabbed, and you shot him a glare, trying to hold back a laugh. "What did you learn about the Reality Stone itself?"
You threw down the paper in your hands, shuffling through the others 'til you found the right one. "The Reality Stone grants the user complete control over the fabric of reality, and it is so powerful that it can affect reality on a universal scale.
When one is merged with the Reality Stone, it enhances the user's physical power. Allegedly Malekith was able to withstand blows from Thor, matching the god's strength. It also grants the user regeneration, and even allows them to regrow limbs. Now that I wanna try."
"Fuck no," Stephen interjected, and you huffed out in annoyance.
"You're no fun," you continued reading off your notes. "If one becomes completely acquainted with the Reality Stone, they can even project illusions and false realities, teleport, send out blasts of energy, and allow the user to transmute matter to their will." You set down the paper. "Well, that's really it for the big talking points. What's next?"
