It was the first time I think I've ever been in a limousine. The seats were comfortable, cushioned leather. The inside was spacious and honestly quite relaxing. Except for the large man with a gun pointed at us.
I looked up at Bucky who met my gaze with a small smile. It was reassuring to know he was there. I never had a partner, and I guess they are useful for if things go south.
Finally, we entered a large gate that opened when we appeared. The grass in the yard was unbelievably green, lights lit up the driveway as we entered the round drive. The house was huge, tall windows surrounded by a deep brown trim. The house on the outside was white. It radiated expensive the way it gleamed even in the dark evening. A large water fountain was at the center of the paved circle drive. We parked at the entrance, a man opening the door for us. Bucky got out first, reaching his hand into the car for me to take.
I took Bucky's hand, stepping out of the car with nothing but wonder on my face. Bucky took the lead, tucking my arm underneath his and holding onto my hand. He gave it a gentle squeeze which I reciprocated.
"What's the name?"
My attention was drawn to an older man with a clipboard who stood impatiently in front of us.
"Benjamin and Julie Smith sir. Hugo is expecting us."
Bucky spoke up to the man, flashing him a dazzling smile. I got my act together, giving the man questioning us a kind smile in the process. He looked over his clip board, flipping over a few papers.
"Ah Benjamin, welcome in." His demeanor changed upon seeing our names on the list. We began our walk to the front doors. The stairs were steep up to the door. I felt Bucky lean down to whisper in my ear."I don't think I've ever seen a house this big."
I looked up at him, smiling gently.
"It's definitely something to look at."We arrived at the large dark oak doors that were opened by two security guards. The Fourier was large, the ground covered in marble that made my heels click when I walked. The ceiling was tall, coming to a glass dome at the top with a crystal chandelier hanging down. There was a winding staircase that lead up to a second level. People mingled down at the bottom. To the right was a small bar, then to the right of the bar, live music. Directly across from the bar was the beginning of the staircase where I recognized a man in a dapper suit. He had dark black hair, freshly cut. Olive toes skin with brown eyes and a black mustache.
"There's Hugo at the bottom of the stairs." I muttered to Bucky, keeping a smile on my face as people passed."We will keep an eye on him, catch him when he's not talking to anybody and then make our move." I nodded gently, forcing a smile. I changed my posture and shifted my position to be facing Bucky.
"Ben darling, let's go grab a drink and dance." I tried my hardest to make my voice sound as proper and civilized as possible. Bucky smiled down at me and nodded.
"Lead the way, my beautiful wife." He winked at me.I knew we were just pretending, putting on a show so out cover wouldn't get blown. Something inside me felt warm, causing me to uncontrollably smile at his actions. Part of me wanted this to be real, going to parties and dancing and drinking with an individual that I loved. With as close as Bucky and I have gotten, I could even imagine it being with him.
I got to the bar, ordering a sweet red wine. Bucky got a whiskey on the rocks. They were both given to us fairly quickly. I thanked the bartender and then took a sip of the wine. I could tell Bucky enjoyed his drink by the way he took long sips of it. I laughed into the glass gently while taking a drink from it. I scanned the area looking for familiar faces. I spotted Hugo chatting it up with three men, bellowing large laughs and slapping each other on the back. There was a security guard at nearly every entrance and exit of the main hall where everyone gathered. I looked up the stairwell. There was a top balcony above the main room with a couple different hallways leading off in two different directions.
