Raine was imprisoned, and I had a sense of relief. That was until I saw the newspaper headline, 'England prison cell found empty with a bloody scene inside'. It had only been a week since she went to prison, but she has a reputation for escaping easily. She gets it from her mother, I suppose. Her mother was a criminal in her late 20s, and went to jail multiple times for homicides. I would not be surprised if that's where Raine developed her tendencies. Even if this were the case, it's not a good thing in any way.
It was evident that Raine wasn't going to stop this charade anytime soon, and I wouldn't be moved if she did. She had to given up sometime, right? If this were the case, I would be relaxing right now. Fate has to lead somewhere, but never where you suspect. If I had never stuck my nose into this mess, none of this would have occurred. Were me and Olive really being hunted by some lovesick monster? Were we going to live out our lives running and hiding like peasants?
"No, I won't allow this any longer!" I shouted, feeling my wings get heavy again. "This can't be happening, not again-" I muttered as I tried to contain the frustration. They got too heavy for me to bear, and I could feel my eyes closing from the stress. "Not yet, not yet, please-" The embers surrounded the room and I felt the warmth from them as I tried to hide my anger. "Why am I so stupid?!" They were so tight I couldn't seem to have any control. I watched as the whole room blurred. "Why?" I screamed.
The few days remaining until her return were shorter than I had anticipated, and went by quickly. I recovered from the burns, and we got new furniture for the house. Speaking of which, I forgot to mention that we saved up the gold to afford a home of our own! It was a tad bit empty at first, but it was surely a desired objective that we managed to finish in the end. Erin would come over time and time again, and so would Amari, though she seemed less and less happy each visit. I once asked her about her recent experiences and her only answer was "I've lived, nothing more" Which made me fall into a query. What did she mean by "nothing more", I wondered.
Raine's article surfaced around London like fog, consuming every headline near town. She was on the loose and I had no plans on aiding Olive's recovery. He had fallen ill the day that she attacked. His power faded, and he was weakened. I hadn't a clue how to help, besides perhaps a soup or potion with curing remedies.
Thankfully, my sister was in town during this and I had the chance to ask for her help. Emily had always been seen as the odd one out because of her practices. She was known for enchanting objects to cure sicknesses, or fears. She came over near the middle of the week to possibly cure Olive. Her black dress made it seem as if we were heading to a funeral, she'd always worn dark clothing on purpose. She simply said it was to scare the normals away. I found that strange, but I accepted it, knowing she's just a bit different.
