As the warm rays of sunlight hit our faces from the horizon, I felt stronger than ever. Coincidentally he also seemed relaxed. His honey skin seemingly melting into my arms. He was ice cold, I shivered at his touch. He was crying, or had been in the past.
What had we run away from that night? Who caused it? I should've gone straight to those questions, but instead, I began slowly. "What should I call you?" I asked softly. "Olive, Olive Kai" he answered quietly. He seemed scared, I would be too if I was greeted by some random guy in the forest. He had a very strange name, Olive, who names their child Olive? Not important, he seemed so nice, but I doubt he'd want to spend any more time with me.
"It would be best if I left, I'm sor-" I mumbled before he stopped me. "No, you should stay" He said in return, gripping my arm so I sat back down. "I.. enjoy your company" I was astonished, since I grew up in a household where everyone hated me. "You do? There's no way, you're lying, how could anyone enjoy my company?" "Maybe it's your calm nature. Or your aura!" It seemed that I had piqued his interest.
The rest of the day went by quite fast, I took him to get some new clothing because the previous ones had been burnt. Then we went to get him a blindfold so he could walk around without anyone questioning his blindness. As for me, I was anxious the whole day. I had lost many hours of sleep, and I felt very weak. After we changed into more comfortable clothes, we went for a walk near the creek. This was my favorite part of town, simply because it's calming atmosphere and the scenery of course.
I moved Olive's hand so that he could feel the breeze against the flowers. He smiled once he realized where we were. "I like it here, it's very nostalgic to me" I questioned this statement, but he said nothing more. I felt as if there was something he wasn't telling me, and I wanted to know what it was. "Have you been here before?" I asked him, in a bit of a shaky voice. "I'm not sure, maybe I have. In a past life." This caught me off guard, was he some kind of guardian that lived many lives before? All in separate bodies? I sighed, no time for questioning.
That night we stayed in an inn just down the street from a cafe I visited frequently. I hoped that maybe tomorrow would be an easier day. Before I got a chance to sit down, I heard a knock at the room's door. Why was someone here this late at night? I stood up to see who was there, when I heard the sound of faint weeping. Olive then rushed to the door, as if he knew who was there. "Why are you here? You should be at home, What happened?" He was talking through the door, trying to understand the situation. I was stunned to see him open the door and hug whoever this was. Perhaps it was an old friend, or a family member?
After they finished the embrace, and whoever this was calmed down, I got a clear image of them. It was an average height, freckled boy. He had emerald green eyes and ginger hair. One of the first things I noticed was the scar on his right eye. In order to keep this in mind, I pulled out my notebook and wrote it down, hoping I would come back to it later. "I'm so glad you're okay! It's been weeks, where have you been?" Olive seemed concerned, "I'm fine really, you just fled and after seeing the newspaper, I figured it was you" So he really did burn down his home, and it made it into the news. I had a feeling something was being hidden from me. "I only fled because I was panicking, no need to get upset." "No need to get upset? You scared me half to death after you left! I trusted you-" "Do you not trust me now?" "That's not what I said, you misunderstood" "No, I understood you perfectly. Please leave" "Olive I'm sorry-" ''We can talk tomorrow. Goodbye Erin."
