Jazz came running as she said, "Amaya woke up. She opened her eyes!!" Mantu gasped as everything around him dissolved and he gulped. He wanted to squeeze her into the arms and never let go of her. Protect her from every single thing at all costs but he still didn't have a single right on her. Rachita, touched his arm in assurance as they started walking towards her ward. "Wait a minute!! What about my son? He is her husband, he ought to meet our Bahu first. Also, the police is there Mantu, I will turn you in! I will tell them what you did to my son.", said an angry Sumitra as Mantu ignored everything, unconsciously. He dream-ly just walked towards the ward. He was about to enter the ward but something stopped him. He stared at her through the window when he realised that her face has lost the life it used to had. Her eyes were blank, the colour of her face was gone. There she was, in a bland, white-painted hospital room, lying as if she is dead on a bed that conveyed her empty emotions so well. He felt empty when he saw her. As if someone attached a pipe and sucked all his joy and happiness away from him. It killed him to see her like this. He touched the glass that was in-between them as he just stared at her. He was so absorbed by his thoughts, that he never realised that a few policemen, Rama and everyone else went inside her room. Mantu came out of his trance as his vision was blocked by Rama standing inside the room. Everything came back to him. She is not her wife, he doesn't even a single right on her. He can't go inside. He was not invited there. He fell on the nearest chair as he just looked at Amaya. She, on the other hand, was lifeless. A senior inspector sat near her and started asking her a few questions. But Amaya was staring into the wall, lifeless. Her one eye was bruised along with a very bruised lip, but she laid down like a corpse. It killed Mantu from inside when she wasn't responding. "I'm telling you inspector, we just had a little accident while doing the husband-wife stuff. I'm telling you, it's nothing what it looks like.", said Rama, trying his level best to convince the cops. Cops looked at him questionably as Rachita quipped in, "So you mean to say that you are a happy, umm.. Perfectly healthy, normal couple!?" "Yes that's what I'm saying", screamed Rama as he clenched his teeth. "Then why we saw divorced papers in Amaya's purse. And oh She has already signed it." "Yo... You know she is a greedy woman, just wanted our house." "The house your mom took it from my mom with cheat, apart from that, she is just asking for a restraining order so that you couldn't see her again and nothing else. NOTHING ELSE.", said Rachita as she gave those papers to the Senior Police inspector. "I'm telling you sir, he has physically abused my sister. Please take him and his family away. They deserve this!!!", said Rachita as she glanced at her sister laying on the bed with those bruises. "Sorry ma'am, we can't take any of them away, until and unless the victim says anything. Or we have a solid evidence.", said the inspector. Rama eyes gleamed with opportunity as he walked towards Amaya as bent closer to her. "Amaya...", whispered Rama softly as he was about to touch her arm when she jumped away from him and cried, "No! No! Please don't beat me! Please Rama. Please, I can't sleep with you. Please! Please don't beat me! It is painful please, please, please..." Mantu shot up from his seat and ran towards the glass as he saw her hiding her face from her hands and crying. "Don't... Don't", murmured Amaya as she hid her face with her hands. Rama smiled nervously as he grabbed her hand and pulled her close. "What are you doing Amaya! What happened!", he bitted through his clenched teeth. Amaya gulped her tears as she looked at him with horror in her eyes. She was horrified to see him. Severe shivering, with tears falling from her eyes but not a single voice came out of her mouth. Her palms were tightly closed in a fist as she sat stiffened. "Leave her hand, she is not in that condition. Leave her hand.", said the doctor and the inspector together as Rachita ran out of the room. "Where is Mantu? She needs him.", thought Rachita to herself as she started looking for him. He was not anywhere to be seen. On the other hand, Rama tightened his grip on her hand. Amaya was still as a stone. Her face was becoming redder and her shivering was getting out of control. "We are telling you for the last time. Leave her hand, or we have to take serious action against you Mr. RamaSh..." "Well she is my wife and I have every single right on her. This is our personal stuff, do not interfere. Right Amaya.", said Rama viciously as he stared deep in her eyes with anger. "Mantu, where are you?", gasped Rachita as she stopped running as she was out of breath. She turned to her left as she looked at Mantu in front of a Mahadev idol, engrossed in praying. He was chanting the mantra under his breath as he fiercely kept his eyes closed and hands joined. "Please, please take care of her! She needs you Mahadev! You helped me when I was at my lowest, this is her lowest, please take care of her. I don't know what should I do! I don't have any right on her. I don't know if it's right for her from me to be there. So please please take care of her. I'll not ask anything in my life again, just fulfil this wish. Please. Please.", said Mantu as the latter part came out as a whisper as he choked on his feelings and sobbing again. "Mantu!",said Rachita as Mantu flung his arms around her and sobbed. "I can't see her like this! I can't! I ain't strong enough." "Mantu! You got to be with her. Only you can handle her right now!", whispered Rachita as she rubbed his back to console him. Mantu frees her from the grip as he stands in the corner and says, "I can't. I just can't face her." "Why Mantu! She needs you right now." "I know di, I know. I know the place where she is right now. She... She has lost everything. Every... Everything. Even her will to live. You looked at her eyes, they were lifeless. I was there, before she came in my life. She got me out of it. She helped me live again. I never, ever thought her to be in this position. I never...", said Mantu as he fell to the floor l, helpless. "Mantu...", whispered Rachita. "You got to be strong, for her. She needs you. She really does." "I can't go in there di. I CAN'T. I JUST CAN'T.", said Mantu as he turned his back to Rachita. It was less then a second later, he heard her scream, "NOOO! NOOO!! NO PLEASE DON'T BEAT ME!!!!!"
