Pssstttthhhhh!!!
"Could you turn off the rice cooker for me please Faith?"
"Will do mom"
"Just a little more and we will be done with the dinner... do you need any help with your math equations there sweetie?"
"I could handle it"
"Sit straight sweetie... you back would hurt if you keep sitting like that"
Faith nodded her head a little before she pushed her chair towards the kitchen counter and made herself comfortable grabbing her pen and continued solving her math question set.
Faith was a beautiful girl. Her mother was where she inherited her beauty from but one could tell she had the eyes and hair colour oh her father. Ever since she could remember, she was naturally shy and quiet. She constantly repeated herself because people couldn't hear her the first time. Even then she seldom made eye contact with others. Nothing changed after she entered high school.
Faith has lived in korea for as long as she knew. Her mother had her when she was fairly young and pursuing a degree in freelancing and investments here in Seoul, South korea.
She was raised like any other normal seoul girl. But She had a striking contrast in case of her looks. She had huge blue eyes and naturally blond hair which you might not usually find in a native korean. She had a very comfortable life. Her mother earned more than enough and they would never be short of money even if her mother decided to quit her job to rest for a couple years.
She had always had a big heart. She was never the one to judge, spread rumours or stay mad at someone for over a day. She had realised since she was young that she did not have a father but not once did she trouble her mother because of the said reason.
She was raised by her grandmother and her mom. Her grandmother or 'Gran' as she would call her used to live with them to help her mom raise her but she moved back to the UK three years ago wanting to spend the rest of her life in her homeland after making sure both her daughter and grand daughter are comfortable on their own.
"How's the dinner? Is the spice too much for you... I added some spices from the spice mix my co worker gave me the other day- can you tell the difference?" Her mom asked while filling her glass with warm water.
"Yea... it is more flavoured than usual... I would like to have it more often" Faith smiled before taking a small portion of rice from her chopsticks into her small mouth. Her mother just looked at her with all the love in her eyes and she continued eating her dinner with a little chit chat here and there.
After they were done with the night, Faith took her hairbrush and went to her mom who was in the living room with her laptop opened in front of her.
She quietly sat down between her legs on the carpeted floor and handed the hairbrush to her mother who gladly took it and started brushing her hair. She tied her thick hair into a loose braid and secured the ends with a hair tie which she found on her wrist. Oh! Faith did not have the time to wash her hair and get it tangle free every school morning so she would always go to her mother, who would braid her hair for her.
With that she kissed the top of her head and wished her a good night "Go to bed now. You have school tomorrow. Good night sweetie!"
"Good night mom" she grabbed her hairbrush and headed towards her room.
She opened the windows to let the air in and drew the curtains to cut of the night lights from the buildings and roads of Seoul. She could hear the faint sounds of the cars on the road with the sound of wind and that put her to sleep eventually.Mornings. People hated them. Faith was of the opposite opinion though. She would look forward to the beginnings of new days and would never be tired of them. She woke up at the sound of her alarm from her phone and shut it off. She laid in bed for a while and finally gained the strength to get out of the warmth.
After being done with brushing her teeth and showering. She got dressed in her uniform after putting her hair in a simple ponytail. And sprayed her usual light floral perfume on herself. She took out her socks, wore them after taking her bag from the study table chair, checked everything, took her phone with a power bank and left her room not before switching off all the lights.
She was greeted with her mom on the dinning table in her usual formal attire... munching on some cereals while scrolling through her phone.
"Good morning mom"
"Good morning sweetie"
Her mother smiled and took out another bowl from the cabinet and placed it on the counter while grabbing a spoon from the holder. Faith took out milk from the refrigerator and added cereal before milk in her bowl. Her mother smiled at that, while filling up a glass of juice for her daughter.
Faith grabbed a banana and started with her breakfast.
Once they were done she took all the plates and glasses and put them in the dishwasher. After that she took her water bottle and filled it with cool water before walking towards the front door. She took out a pair of her oxford shoes from the shoe rack and put them on discarding her home slippers.
Her mom entered immediately after she was done wearing them and put on her heels. And they left their apartment.
As they were waiting for the elevator. Faith fumbled with the zipchain of her mothers leather handbag and leaned to her side. Her mother in turn smiled and wrapped one of her arms around her and squeezed her shoulder delicately.
The elevator dinged and soon opened revealing Nayeon dressed in a similar clothing and her father. Faith smiled at them and wished them a good morning.
Nayeon was her classmate and friend. It so happened that she lived just a few floors above them but it has only made them closer to each other. They would often run into each other and would also go out in the evening to walk around the gardens around the complex or maybe have sleepovers and movie marathons.
Their families were each other's good friends. They were always supportive of their friendship.
"Where's the little champ?" Asked her mother with a chuckle to nayeon's father.
"At home. Sleeping. His school is off for some days. Some kind of renovation going on" the man replied talking about his 11 year old son.
Her mom nodded and they reached the parking lot. Faith bid her mother good bye and left with Nayeon and her dad.
She would always go to school with them as her mother would have to take an opposite road to reach to her work place. She entered the back seat with Nayeon and Nayeon's father started the car."To the school we go ladies!" he let out playfully.
The girls giggled at the back before looking out of the window gazing at the city while reaching near to the place they knew as their school.
