"I am sorry"

That was the first thing she heard when she was just about to enter the class. A commoner just zoomed past her almost making her fall on the wood floor. His apology was followed by a fit of laughter from inside the class.
She shook her head slightly and adjusted the straps of her bag on her shoulders properly once again and finally entered.

"Did you look at his face?"
"Oh my God. We should do this on another one"
"Oh we should"
"Definitely"

She was greeted with a bunch of Rich brats sitting on the teachers desk and laughing their heads out because of whatever funny reason. It didn't take a genius to figure out that they were laughing at the boy who just ran out of the class. Another one of their pranks! Nothing New.

She moved her vision around the class and was surprised to see Nayeon with her group of people. She was fast. Ofcourse, she must have rode the elevator. As if she felt Faith's gaze, she turned around and their eyes made contact. An instant smile plastered on both of their lips.
Nayeon waved at her and Faith replied with a shy wave and nod. Nayeon's friends also passed her a smile.

She then moved towards her designated seat which was in the middle of the class. The students had a whole bench to themselves. So Faith did not have a partner which she found very convenient. She settled down on her seat and took out her phone.

She randomly scrolled through Instagram to kill time until the teacher enters.

A couple minutes later the teacher finally entered the noisy classroom, and one could tell by his facial expressions he would do anything but be in here.

Sigh. "Boys! Back to your seats please"
The boys threw the teacher a smirk before going back to their seats.

"Settle down class! Please attend to your roll calls- arghhhh!"

Mr. Kwak, an exceptional 51 year old mathematician and the home room teacher of grade 10 class III batch of 2022 was always proud of his knowledge. He was one of the most respected teachers in the institution. He had been teaching for as long as 16 years here. He was feared by the students- lemme rephrase it... He was extremely feared by the commoners and some nobles as well. He had mastered his death glare and no one would look at him in the eye... but not right now.

Mr. Kwak was caught up in a situation here... he was on the floor with one of the his chair's legs broken... broken?

It could not break on it's own from nowhere...

As soon as he fell, the whole class roared with laughter. It was not everyday that you would find one of the strictest people on campus on the floor totally looking so out of their aura and so... vulnerable.

It was funny to them. They wanted to laugh at his fall, they did without a second thought... it's not like they would loose a lot even if they were punished.

The laughter seemed to add oil to the fire in Mr. Kwak's anger. He clenched his jaw and one could see the veins pooping out from his forehead. He was fuming. He felt utterly humiliated. He rose up to his feet.

"Stand Up!" He let out calmly... way too calmly.

The students stopped laughing and were confused at his sudden command!

"What? Why-" one of them tried asking.

"I SAID STAND UP!" His yell echoed through the quiet classroom and it won't be a suprise if the other rooms could hear him too... but it was enough for all the students stand up unconsciously.

Mr. Kwak scanned through the classroom and no one dared to meet his eyes.

"All of you will keep standing, until the one behind this incident comes forward and accepts his doing... I don't care if the class goes on for 50 minutes or an hour or the whole day... I am not leaving the room without the culprit."
He said and took one of the student chairs from the first desk he saw and sat down at at his desk.

"Page 79 of your math Question set. Questions 4 to 30. I want you to solve and give me the answers in the next 30 minutes... you are allowed to use the calculator and your notes... start solving" he said in his usual tone while going through something on his laptop.

After hearing no movement he lifted his head towards the class and found all the students with either heads down or gazing out of the window.

"NOW!" He once again yelled and as if practiced all the students opened their books and started solving at the exact same time while... standing!

"Aaahhh!"
"I can't believe he made us skip swimming lessons! We have access to the pool only in summers and that's once a week!"
"Why'd those idiots prank Mr. Kwak out of all the teachers at school!"
"He is so heartless- it wasn't even our fault that those students pranked him"

It took 3 hrs for the culprit to gain enough courage to admit his mistake. It was a rich idiot along with a bunch of his friends who were responsible for it. The class basically collapsed on ground as soon as Mr. Kwak left the room with those students.

The rest of the day passed in a blur... Faith was drained of her energy. If you think solving Math is difficult try Solving math while standing.

She had no mind to stay at the school until 9 pm studying and reviewing... it was totally upto the students of KIS to stay or not... the campus would be open for them till 9 in the night, another one of the privileges offered by this institution that you won't find in all Korean schools ... so as soon as the clock struck 5 and all the classes were over she walked out of the school without Nayeon who had some club to manage and got on a bus to her apartment complex.

Both of their parents were busy at these hours... so they were on their own for going back. Nayeon and her would usually take the bus or one of their classmates might drop them on good days.

The bus stop was a little far from her apartment so she had to walk to reach her home.

Like the heavens wanted to make her suffer... it started raining just as she left the bus stop... she ran as fast as her dainty legs could take her, almost slipping on the ground too many times and reached her home drenched but safe.

She took a warm shower and wore something warm.

"Jesus! My legs-ouch!" She said massaging her legs on her own. Her mother was not home yet... she would usually come back around 8 or 8:30 at night... so it was long till she was back.

Faith had seen better days. She was absolutely drained and tired. She had to climb up three floors and then stand for more than three hours and run in rain to get back to the comfort of her home. Her legs were killing her.

This day could not get tougher-
Just as she thought this the doorbell rang.

It took everything in her to remove the fluffy blanket and get up from the couch.

She dragged her feet along the carpeted floor towards the front door. The doorbell rang again. The person outside was impatient.

"Coming" she said before unlocking the door and looked up to the visitor.
Only to question her eyes.
