hide and seek!

-

JULIET ANNOYINGLY SCRUBBED the last glass dish that sat in the now—empty seat, feeling more relieved that she was finally finished with her chores. The girl let out a sigh, rinsing the plate and carefully setting it into the dish rack. Juliet quickly turned off the hot, running water, quickly running to her phone to check the time.

Fifteen minutes until I'm supposed to be at Peter's, she thought. I can still make it.

Juliet looked up from her phone, realizing that her uncle wasn't going to allow her to go to Peter's—so, she was just going to have to sneak out. The girl quietly began to make her way towards her bedroom, carefully listening for any signs of her uncle as she did so. She knew for a fact that if her uncle found out what she was doing, things wouldn't be pretty afterwards.

But, at the moment, the girl could care less. The only thing she cared about was seeing Peter and Ned.

The girl quietly walked into her bedroom, quickly slipping her shoes onto her feet. Juliet sucked in a breath, quietly but quickly walking out of her room and beginning to make her way into the living room and towards the front door.

I can't believe he can't hear me, she thought, a small grin etching itself onto her lips as she neared the front door.

She placed her hand onto the icy cold doorknob, beginning to unlock it with her other hand, but jumped at the sudden large footsteps behind her. Juliet spun around, seeing that her uncle stood by the kitchen.

"Where the hell do you think you're going this late? I thought I told you you weren't going anywhere?" Her uncle angrily spoke.

"I promised Peter I'd go to help him work on a project!" Juliet lied, her heart beginning to race at the tone of his voice.

"This late? I find that hard to believe, Juliet." Her uncle spoke with furrowed eyebrows.

"What?"

"I know what you're really going over to that little punk's house to do." Her uncle shook his head as he spoke, causing Juliet to furrow her eyebrows in confusion and disgust.

"What? Ew, no-"

"Don't lie to me, you're just like your mother!" The man angrily spoke, causing Juliet's blue eyes to widen in utter offense and anger. "Don't be a lowlife like her— look where that lead her to be!"

Juliet's jaw dropped in offense and disgust. "My mother was not a low-life—if anyone's a low-life, it's you!"

"Don't be talking to me in that ugly tone, little girl-"

"You're fucking disgusting. Don't talk about my mother like that ever again." Juliet spoke in anger, angry tears forming in her eyes.

"Oh, please-"

"I hate you." Juliet angrily lifted her finger to point at the man, her bottom lip trembling as her voice quivered.

"You better rethink what you just told me, young lady." The man angrily spoke, his nostrils flaring.

Juliet ignored him, sniffing as tears began to roll down her cheeks as she spun around, fumbling to unlock the door as quickly as she could so she could leave.
