MIO POV
"Put your feet up, dumbass! You can't expect to swim if you're literally walking!"
Arlo looked at me in horror. "Bruh, you want me to drown, don't you? I can't just put my feet up and float!"
I groaned, looking over at the others. "This is hard. Why am I the one who has to teach him how to swim?"
Kingston looked over at us before he began swimming towards us. "I can teach him if you want -"
Arlo shrieked, "swimming" away. "Hell to the no!"
Kingston rolled his eyes. He put out his arm and caught Arlo around his waist then pulled Arlo close. "Calm down, princess. I'll actually try to teach you. On god."
Arlo looked up at him suspiciously, frowning. "I don't believe you. Why the change in behavior?"
"Oh, please. Kingston is just soft like that. He has a wittle soft spot for you," I said, the slight blush on Kingston's cheeks not going unnoticed. He simply rolled his eyes though.
"I just wanted to help. What's the biggie?" was his response - directed at Arlo whose gaze was fixed upon me.
"Mio, tell your ugly boy-toy to get his hands off of me," Arlo said as he tried to pull away from Kingston. Kingston didn't let go and instead held Arlo even closer, pressing their bodies together.
I blinked, unsure of how I was to react to what was going on. But then I just shrugged. "He's your problem now." With that, I actually swam away, leaving Kingston with a now shrieking Arlo.
"Decided to leave Arlo with the wolf, huh?" Jeremiah asked as I got out of the pool. A smirk started showing itself on his face.
I gagged. "Don't smirk, please. I still have night-terrors from those One Direction fanfics."
"Ayo, you actually read those?" Jeremiah all but shouted, attracting Xion's attention, who was by the barbeque.
"Read what?" Xion asked, furrowing his brows.
"One Dir -"
I slammed my hands over his mouth, muffing his words. "Nothing, Xion! Nothing at all!"
Jeremiah grabbed my hands and removed them from his face. "Damn, bro. You're kind of strong. I can't believe you used to read One Direction fanfics though."
"What's One Direction?"
Silence over all of us - including Kingston and Arlo who were closer to us than before.
"I was gonna say that was sad, but I'm actually jealous of you now," Arlo spoke up, breaking the silence.
"Same," Jeremiah and I said at the same time.
Kingston shrugged. "I thought they were pretty hot, honestly."
I looked at him in horror. "Really? They were like teen white boys!"
He looked at me, dumbfoundedly. "No. I was joking."
"Oh."
Arlo snorted. "'Joking,'" he said, using air quotes around the word.
"What's that supposed to mean, princess?" Kingston snapped back.
"I'd rather be a princess than simp over a boy group."
"I would agree, but have you seen BTS?" I asked, pouting.
"Shut up, Mio. That's the most basic group ever," Kingston replied.
"So? They're pretty hot if you ask me."
"Name three k-pop groups other than them and the other popular girl group."
"Ooh, I know!" Arlo cheekily smiled. When Kingston glared at him, his smile completely vanished. "You know," he started, "suddenly I don't even remember my own name."
A sigh was heard coming from Xion. "I'm going back to cooking."
Jeremiah turned to him. "Actually, it's called barbequing. Like how baking is baking and not cooking."
"Dude, shut up. I've never heard someone say barbeqing until now," I said, attitude lacing my words.
Jeremiah gave me a side look. "Not my fault everyone's dumb where you live. It kind of explains some things, ya know."
"You're ugly," was my response.
"Can I actually teach you how to swim now?" Kingston muttered, looking over at Arlo.
"No."
"Why not?" he asked in a whiny voice.
"Why yes?" Arlo snapped. "You're just trying to kill me. How about Xion teaches me how to swim? I trust him better than everyone else."
Xion looked over at him, calculating something in his head. "How about...we both teach you how to swim? Kingston and I?"
Arlo looked like he got rejected. "But - but...don't you wanna spend alone time with me?" He pouted.
"Well. I don't know."
"I thought getting no hoes was sad, but this is even sadder," Jeremiah commented casually.
"This is getting no hoes, dumbass."
-
After the pool shenanigans, we returned to the house and held a vote for what we should do next. There were lots of options - like board games or watching a movie or...or doing nothing. In the end we decided to watch a movie but Kingston was the one who picked it out, so obviously he chose what everyone didn't like.
Romance.
And to make things worse: straight romance.
As if we weren't all a bunch of gays. Why would I, or Arlo or Jeremiah or even Kingston, want to watch a "I'm not like other girls" girl fall in love with every guy she meets? The answer is, as Kingston had said, "The janitor is hot."
He wasn't wrong. The janitor was a total dilf. But still?
"I think romance is my new favorite genre," Arlo muttered as he ate more ice cream and stuffed himself into the cushions of the couch.
"No way. This shit is literally so trash," Jeremiah said from the floor, not taking his eyes off the screen.
"Shut up and watch."
Classic Kingston.
"Cuddle with me," I whined, attempting to get Kingston to put his arm around me. He wouldn't budge though.
"Toxic. Hater. I'm breaking up with you," I whined, trying to get a reaction out of him. It didn't work. "Okay, fine. I'll just find someone else."
"I'm single," Arlo muttered. I turned to my left to look at him and snorted. But then, surprising not only him but also Kingston, I moved over and cuddled with him.
"That's cheating," Kingston complained as he looked over the two of us.
"You had your chance," I teased. "Not my fault you're taking my love for granted."
"On god, bro. Sit on my lap," Arlo said out of nowhere. I turned to look at him, only to find that our faces were a bit too close for friends. For some reason, though, I didn't pull away. I couldn't. His eyes were just too enticing.
But that was when he stuffed a spoon full of ice cream into my mouth.
"Suck on that," he muttered, returning his attention to the TV.
I blinked, beyond confused, whilst Kingston just laughed.
"I hate cookies and cream ice cream," I couldn't help but angrily mutter.
