**Chapter 8- Looks kill.**
"And they say, Never judge a book by it's cover."
Sounds too cliché huh?
I guess, everything you say or do has to have a certain reason behind it.
This quote definetly had it.
I realized how meaningful the quote was when I met Natasha.
In other words, when I met the goddess of evil.
Natasha. She looked like she was nice. But she wasn't.
And till today, event though we still 'talk' in a sense, I will never forget the things she did to me. They have peen tattooed in my heart but in this case, this tattoo can never be erased.
**
"So what do you like Jules?" Natasha asked me smiling, while curling her spaghetti around her fork.
We were at break, together with Abigail too. Like duh right. Remember yesterday when Abigail introduced a friend of hers she met during math? Yeah, that one. She seems really nice and enthusiastic. But of course, she was nothing like my corky and funny best friend, Abigail! But I still liked her, you know.
"I like alot of things. Which one in particular?" I asked while taking a sip of my hot-milo. Dang it, it was hot.
"Hmm what colour do you like?"
"I like purple! You?"
"Me too!" Natasha exclaimed, giving me a high-five. We both laughed.
"Well, you guys can carry on with your lame interview while I can just gladly leave the two of you alone." Abigail deadpanned, crossing her arms against her chest.
"Oops.." I said, giving a small chuckle. I feel bad when I say this but for about five seconds, i didn't even realise Abigail was here.
Soon, the bell rang signaling break was over. We carried our empty trays and threw them in inside the pails, before heading for our Music Lesson; my favourite.
"Students, as always for our Music project, you will get into pairs. This time, you and your partner are going to create a short rap about our school. It can be anything about our school, your favourite lesson or the activities that you have took part in and so on. You can choose your own partners. I will give you one mintue to do it." My music teacher explained, setting the 1 mintue timer on the computer.
Soon, the whole class was like a fish market.
What do you expect.
I quickly stood up from my seat and headed towards Abigail. If you're wondering why, cause she is my partner duh! We made a promise to always partner each other in whatever activities there may be when we first became really close. That's what best friends do right? Actually, you don't even need to ask. They do it. All the time. Or atleast, that's what I thought.
"Abigail, so what are we going to do?" I asked her, a big grin forming on my face.
"Erm, Jules..." She began, playing with her fingers nervously.
"Huh..?" I asked. Why was she nervous? She's my partner, right?
"I'm patnering Natasha."
And that's when my heart broke into a million pieces.
Wait, actually it didn't. But I was really disappointed.
Do you know how it would feel when your best friend ditches you for someone they just met like what, two days ago?
It'd hurt, really badly.
"Jules.?" Abigail began, snapping me out of my train of thoughts.
"Yeah.."
"So are you okay with it?" She asked again, nervously.
What can I say? Seriously, the answer was obvious. Of course i was okay with it. It's not like I have any chance to force Abigail into patnering me.
"Yeah."
"Cool! I was really scared that you wouldn't be okay with it! But of course you are MY best friend!" She laughed happily, emphasizing 'MY'.
I let out a small chuckle. Well, she calling me best friend sure made me feel better. Maybe natsaha was new and that's why Abby wanted to partner her.
In the end, she was still my best friend, eventhough she wasn't my partner for this music project.
Eventually , i partnerd with another girl named Allison. I didn't really talk to her that much but we did get along well anyway.
"So was Allison ok? Was she nice?!" Abigail started with her numerous questions of whether my new partner was nice to me and so on. This is why she's my best friend.
"Yes, Abby. She's nice."
Trust me, the smile that appeared on her face was as wide that she could have eaten a banana sideways. Worst part is, I'm not even kidding.
"Hey guys!" Natasha walked up to us, standing beside Abby.
"Hey," I simply said.
"So Abby.." Natasha began, turning her attention towards Abby. Wait, when did she start calling Abigail Abby?
"Shall we go?" She asked her, cheerily.
I tilted my head towards the side, a confused expression forming on my face. Where are they going?
"Oh shit!" Abby cussed, holding her head with both hands.
"I forgot to tell you that Natasha and I are having a study date together. You wanna come?"
At that moment, a pang of jealousy hit my heart. Abby was going to a study date with Natasha? And she didn't even tell me about it till now? God, the heck is this.
"It's okay." I deadpanned. "I have to go."
Abby formed a 'o' shape with her mouth. Quickly, natasha waved a quick bye to me before pulling away Abby.
I stood there, watching Abby get dragged away. She was definitely happier now that she had been hanging out with Natasha.
I let a small sigh escape my lips. This couldn't be happening again right? My best friend was not going to be stolen by Natasha.
A few days have passed. Now you might be thinking that Natasha and Abigail would have been really close right? Well, you're wrong.
Natasha and I had become close. Are you confused right now? Well you should be cause I was.
I did not exactly know how this occurred but we got close. She started talking to me alot and well she was really funny.
Ok no, I wasn't really a 'bad friend' towards Abby or anything, it's just that Natasha and I share quite a number of common things.
Recently, she and I paired up together for the Math olympiad.
Then, Abby had called me recently for a heart to heart talk or so she calls it and said she was being 'left-out' in the group.
I told her that it was nothing she was thinking of and that everything was just normal.
I know how suckish the feeling of being left-out is but I just.. Somehow, I just wanted Abigail to feel alone more. I don't know if this was revenge or hate but I still regarded Abby as my best friend.
So, I really don't know.
But all i know is that the once perfect friendship that I had with Abigail was disappearing, bit by bit. Soon, it will be all gone.
