Chapter 33

It was the next morning now and as always it was the same for Hyunjin and Felix. They had spent the previous night in the resort room and were supposed to go back to their home this morning but before they could even begin their day, they got the shocking news. It was Hyunjin who heard it first as he was woken up from his sleep due to someone calling him multiple times this early in the morning and when hyunjin saw the caller id, it was Daniel.

Although he was a bit irritated and was going to scold Daniel for waking him up this early, the piece of information that he received completely took off his sleep. He started to panic a bit and was thinking about what he was going to do when he felt Felix turning around beside him indicating that he was going to wake up pretty soon. Although Hyunjin wanted to hide this news from him, he was not willing to do so because Felix deserved to be informed about this.

Their relationship had been exposed to the public.

As soon as Felix opened his eyes, he was greeted by the now-familiar sight of hyunjin beside him but this time the expression on his face was sour unlike before and there was no usual parade of sweet words or pecks.

“Good morning jinnie.” Chirped Felix

“Good morning lixie.” Said hyunjin in a concerned voice

“Hey, is everything alright? You are not looking good? Are you sick?” asked Felix out of concern

“No, I am not sick Felix. It’s just… It’s just that--” Stuttered hyunjin

“What is it? Tell me hyunjin.” Demanded Felix

“This news will be shocking but please don’t panic. Our relationship has been made public.” Said hyunjin with all the energy left inside him

Silence…

That was all hyunjin could hear before he looked in the direction of Felix to see his eyes trembling and on the verge of tears. It broke him inside that Felix was like this because of their relationship and Hyunjin internally blamed himself for this situation. Although Hyunjin was also panicking by now, he couldn’t show it to Felix as he had to stay strong for him. He had to be strong for them.

“Hey, look at me, Felix. Look at me.” said hyunjin bringing his hands to Felix's cheeks and wiping away the tears

“I am scared hyunjin. I am very scared.” Croaked Felix before sobbing violently

“Hush, I am here Felix. I am here and I won’t let go. Don’t worry too much about this. We will figure something out.” Reassured hyunjin although he himself didn’t believe his words at the time.

“I don’t want our relationship to be the cause of my group’s downfall. I don’t want to lose my precious friends and I don’t want to cause them any pain.” Said Felix finally while looking at hyunjin’s eyes

“I know, love. I know that very well. But please don’t worry right now, we will figure something out. But first of all, can you call all your members and ask them to come back right now? While you do that let me handle the media scenario.” Said hyunjin

After hyunjin said that they both got busy calling the members and the required personnel for this issue. Right off the bat, Felix called both of his brothers and explained the situation to them. Fortunately for him, his brothers supported his relationship and decided to fly to Korea right away. While Felix was busy calling his members to inform them of the situation, Hyunjin called Daniel once again to know the situation in the city right now.

“Daniel, what is happening in the company right now?”

“It is a huge commotion here, sir.  There are a lot of rumors going around the building about some kind of inappropriate relationship between you and Mr. Felix. I have suppressed the issue by threatening suspension or dismissal of any employee who dared to spread false rumors but I am afraid it won’t be enough to stop them.”

“What about the situation outside the company? Is it any worse than this?” asked hyunjin

“It’s a lot worse than this outside, sir. Many people have already gathered outside to protest about this news and this time it is not only the crazy obsessed fans, there are also Anti-LGBTQ groups outside and some general public who seem to be angered by this news.” Informed Daniel

“Aren’t they too fast? The article has just been posted an hour ago. This brings me to my next request, Follow up on that article and find out who posted the pictures and that stuff. After you find that, inform me and then continue to dig up that person’s past. I am not going to spare that person, whoever it might be.” Said hyunjin in agitation

“I will do that, sir. But can you tell me where you are right now? I need to prepare the bodyguards to escort you and Mr. Felix safely. I believe that this is just the beginning sir, there will be much more troubles coming your way.”

“I will text you our address. By the way, I didn’t notice it till now but you don’t seem dazed at all by this news. Did you know about us before this article was even published?” asked a confused hyunjin

“How can I not know about your relationship when I am around you all the time, sir? I already knew about this and I don’t know if it’s any consolation but I am completely supportive of your relationship.” Said Daniel

“So you knew previously. But how?”

“I noticed the change in your behavior, sir. You seemed happy whenever Mr. Felix was near you and it doesn’t take much for a person to guess the reason. I have been by your side for five years now, sir. It would be dishonorable on my part if I didn’t know this simple fact about you.”

“Thank you, Daniel, for respecting my privacy and supporting my relationship.”

“It’s my pleasure, sir. Now I have to hang up the call to arrange for your safety and your order for me.” Said Daniel before finally cutting off the call and leaving hyunjin alone to be lost in his thoughts.

But he was brought back to reality when he heard sniffling coming from Felix.

“Hey hey, what happened? Did your members say anything to you? Did someone else say anything?” asked hyunjin out of concern

“No, Hyunjin. My group members are still very supportive of our relationship but I still can’t shake off the feeling of guilt coming over me. I don’t know what to do anymore. I don’t know, Jinnie.” Said Felix before crying out loud

“It will be okay, Felix. I will protect you and your members. Don’t worry so much, please.” Said hyunjin while pulling Felix into his embrace and tightly hugging him as a way of assurance

“I know that you will protect me. I know that. But I still can’t help but think that maybe this is a mistake. Maybe we are wrong.” Said Felix

“It is not wrong, Felix. We love each other and we are each other’s happiness.”

“I am a coward, Hyunjin. I am afraid of the repercussions now that this situation has arisen whereas I was fully aware from the beginning that someday this will happen.”

“It’s okay to be afraid, Felix. We all are afraid at times. We will overcome this,” reassured hyunjin

But this time he didn’t get any response from the other. He tried to say something else but he was interrupted when he felt his hands being pushed away by Felix. Once he felt that, he let go of Felix and looked into his eyes which were filled with sadness and anger. At that moment, he felt something coming his way and he didn’t like what he was thinking about but before he could say anything, his thoughts were proven true.

“Let’s end this, Hyunjin. Let’s break up.”
