Chapter 34

“Let’s end this, Hyunjin. Let’s break up.”

As soon as Hyunjin heard it, his mind went blank and his heart shattered into a million pieces. Although he knew that Felix was saying this because of the situation they were in and not because of his lack of love, it still pained him that Felix could even say that sentence. But he knew that if he didn’t recollect himself and talk to Felix, their relationship would cease to exist. And therefore he recollected his thoughts, composed himself, and tried to make Felix take back his words.

“What? But why? Felix, you do understand what you are saying, right?” asked a bewildered hyunjin

“I know what I am talking about Hyunjin.” Answered Felix

“But the question remains. Why do we have to break up?” asked hyunjin now on the verge of tears

“Because of the mess we are in right now. I don’t want other people to be affected due to this.” Said Felix who was now on the verge of tears again and this broke hyunjin’s heart further.

“I know that this is not because of the lack of affection or love, so I won’t accept this break-up, Felix. I won’t. Why do we have to break up when we are not in the wrong? Why do I have to give up my happiness just because some people can’t seem to understand my definition of happiness?”

“Then what should I do hyunjin? What can we do? Being gay is still taboo in Korea. So is it really worth it fighting with these many people?” Said Felix through his tears

“I told you that I will love and protect you forever and you said the same. If I could trust your ‘forever’ then why can’t you trust mine? Am I that untrustworthy? Why can’t you trust my ‘forever’, Felix?” asked hyunjin through the tears that flowed out of his eyes due to the fear and pain he felt in that moment.

“I trust you, hyunjin. I love you and trust you a lot. But I don’t know what to do. I don’t know how to handle the situation.”

“Then do you think breaking up with me, abandoning me is the answer to this problem? No, it isn’t. We are not some heterosexual celebrity couple and this is not some common scandal that happens daily. We are Korea’s first celebrity gay couple to be photographed. I have seen straight celebs dating and then breaking up and people forgetting about them but it is not the case for us, Felix. People won’t forget about us being gay just because we break up, people won’t sweep it under the rugs just because we break up. Please understand that.” Said hyunjin while trying to hold felix's hand

“Then what should we do, hyunjin? What can we do?” asked Felix

“We will fight. I am not going to lose you just because someone else is insecure about our relationship. I promised you that I will let you go if you ask me to, but I need a genuine reason for that and this is not one of those. I am not breaking up with you, so please take back your words, Felix.” Said hyunjin who was now trembling due to his overflowing feelings

“Are you sure, hyunjin?”

“I am more sure about us than I ever have been in my entire life, Felix. I am not giving up on you, on us.” Said hyunjin with a newfound sense of determination

“I trust you, hyunjin. I love you, I want you to know that.” Said Felix

“So, we are still in a relationship, right?” asked a confused hyunjin

“Yes, we are still in a relationship. I am sorry I said what I said, but that was because I didn’t know what to do and I was panicking. I am sorry.” Said Felix while coming forward to hug hyunjin

“It’s okay Felix. it’s okay. But I hope that you don’t say that sentence again. Please don't abandon me. I hate that sentence to my core and I definitely don’t want to hear that.” Said Hyunjin before embracing Felix in his arms

“I promise, I won’t say that to you just like that. I promise.”

“Now, let’s get ready, shall we? We have the battle to fight.” asked hyunjin

“Yes, I am ready.” Said Felix who was now determined just as much as hyunjin to protect this relationship

After they got ready to go out, they both came out of the resort to find more than a dozen bodyguards waiting near the door to safely escort them to their company’s building. Daniel had taken extra measures to make sure that everyone was safe during this situation. As they began driving in a convoy of cars surrounding them, the reality began to set in on both of them. They now knew that there was no going back from here, they were going to be the country’s first gay celebrity couple and a lot of trouble was coming their way.

But what they didn’t expect was the vast amount of people protesting outside the company building. They had expected crazy fans to be there but there were a lot more people than expected. When Felix saw this, he got anxious and was on the verge of panicking but fortunately for him, hyunjin saw his face and gave his hand a little squeeze to remind him of his presence.

“Are you ready, Lixie?” asked hyunjin while smiling affectionately at Felix

“Yes, let’s go. But can we go by the front door and not by your secret driveway?”

“We can do that but why do you want to do that? Isn’t that more nerve-racking than just going inside secretly?” asked a confused Hyunjin

“I know it’s more nerve-racking but I don’t want to hide, I want to show everyone that I am proud of my decision and I don’t regret it one bit. I am not afraid anymore.” Answered Felix

“I am proud of you, Felix. If you wish to go from the front, then we will go from the front. Let’s go.” Said hyunjin before getting out of the car and opening the door for Felix to come out.

After he came out, hyunjin gave his hand for Felix to hold and once their fingers were intertwined, they began walking towards the front door. As soon as they came nearer to the company doors, the crowd went berserk and began pushing the barricades of the company. If it was not for the dozen bodyguards hired by hyunjin, they both would have been seriously injured. It was pretty evident that the people were not happy with their relationship and it pained Felix to see the heavy demonstration against their private relationship.

As they made their way through the crowd with the bodyguards pushing away the people out of the way, the commotion came to a standstill in Hyunjin’s mind when he felt something hard hit his head. It was an egg. Someone had thrown an egg towards them and it hit Hyunjin’s head. Although Hyunjin was angry, he controlled his anger for the sake of Felix who was horrified by this, but before they could walk any further, Hyunjin saw another egg hurling towards them but this time it was Felix who was going to get hit and as if on cue, Hyunjin went behind Felix to shield him from the egg. It hurt hyunjin when he felt another hard egg break on his head but he was glad that he was able to save Felix from that.

Before anything else was thrown at them, they both walked inside the building to protect themselves from the angry mob. Hyunjin had egg whites running from his head and it pained Felix to see him in this state.

“Are you okay, Hyunjin? Does it hurt anywhere?” asked a worrying Felix

“I am okay, Felix. Don’t worry so much. It hurts a little but I will be fine.” Reassured hyunjin

“I am sorry you had to go through that for me.”

“Don’t be sorry, Felix. I am willing to do anything for you, for us.”

“But still--” Said Felix before he was interrupted by hyunjin

“Let’s not mop over this. We have too many things to do and I also have to deal with that paparazzi who photographed us. Let’s go, shall we?” said hyunjin before

“Fine, if you say so. But if it hurts then please inform me. let’s go now.”

And this was just the beginning of the trouble they were in…
