Two weeks passed and Kali is still in the hospital. What she and Zed talked about is still a puzzle to Kith. He wanted to ask her but he doesn't want to pry.
Now, he's at Stark Tower for an important meeting. He will finish it soon to go back to the hospital for lunch. And it's almost lunchtime.
On the other hand, Kali is reading emails about their businesses. She needs to review it before she gives a go signal.
She's so focused that she didn't pay attention to whoever entered her room until...
"Księżniczka,"
"Mom!"
She puts the laptop beside her and welcomes her mother.
"I miss you, Mommy. I thought you'll never going to visit me," she said, hugging her mom tightly.
"I'm sorry, dear. I wasn't in my good state and don't be mad if Arthur didn't inform you. We don't want to stress you out," her mom Elli said.
They pulled away from the hug and Elli placed her hand on Kali's cheek.
"I'm glad that you are getting better. I'm sure Alistair's boy is doing his best to take care of you," her mom said.
"Mom, his name is Kith,"
Elli chuckled, "I know, dear. Anyway, I heard that you argued with Zed,"
"Mom, if it's about that, can I decide for myself? I know you all mean well but please do remember that I'm a doctor too and I know what's good for me. It's not even a month since I woke up from my surgery and they are pushing me to get another one," Kali said.
Elli sighed, "I know, dear. We are not pushing you to undergo soon. What we want is for you to consider it. Maybe after a year or two. That's all we wanted. Because we want you to live your life to the fullest. Four to five years is not enough," her mom pointed out.
Kali was about to answer when Kith entered with a paper bag of take-outs.
"Four to five years of what?" He asked.
Elli looked at her daughter.
"B-babe-
"Is there something I should know about?" Kith cuts in.
Kali glanced at her mom. Elli knew that look on her face.
"Is this about the argument you had with Zed 2 weeks ago?" Kith added.
Kali is starting to panic that's why her mom decided to meddle.
"Kith, son, will you go out and have some coffee with me?" Elli asked.
"Ah, No problem, Mrs. Nightwish," Then Kith looked at Kali.
Then he moves closer to her and kiss her cheeks, "Talk to you later,"
Elli pats her daughter's cheek. When they left, Kali couldn't stay calm.

Elli and Kith arrived at the café two blocks away from the hospital.
They ordered coffee and are now in awkward silence.
"Ahm, Mrs. Nightwish I would like to apologize for hurting your daughter's feelings and for not letting your husband take Kali to your hospital," Kith said initiating a conversation.
Elli smiled, "It's okay. I know you have reason and I know it hurts you as well. And as for my husband, well, let's say he's impressed with how you stood up to keep our daughter. But don't tell him I said that," She said.
"You can count on it, Mrs. Nightwish," Kith joked.
Mrs. Nightwish smiled before she turned serious.
"So, I know you have questions. You can ask me," Elli said.
"About what I've heard back in the hospital, may I know about it?" Kith asked straightforwardly but still politely.
"About that, I know Kali doesn't want to tell this to you for now. Maybe because she wasn't ready. It's about her heart surgery," Elli said.
"Heart surgery? The one she had the last time? Is there any problem with it?" Kith asked with worry.
"The surgery was a success. The thing is the artificial heart itself. It's not defective but the longevity of it is the problem," Elli said.
"What do you mean, ma'am?"
"Artificial hearts have only 4 to five years of... let's say, life span," Elli uttered.
"What the?!" Kith stops his mouth before he says something awful.
"Sorry for my outburst but is there anything we can do to fix it?" Kith asked.
He just got Kali back and to know that in four or five years tops, he might lose her? He will not allow it.
"It's okay. I understand. And yes, there's a way to fix it,"
Elli said. As a mother, Elli will do everything she can to make her child better.
"Thank God there's a way to fix it! How are gonna do it?" Kith is getting worried.
Mrs. Nightwish sighed, "She needs to get another heart transplant. She can still use artificial or gets a real heart. A real one is the best but the problem is, she doesn't want to,"
"A real heart, how about mine?" Kith asked.
Elli chuckled, "Son, I know you mean well but, Kali will not allow it. Besides, getting a donor will not be a problem. The problem is her,"
"I'm serious though. When the time comes and she really needs a heart, I can give mine and she doesn't need to know,"
"Let's just hope we won't go that far," Elli said.
***
Kith returned to the hospital and found Kali sleeping. Walking near the bed, he saw traces of tears on her face.
He sighed. "Are you that scared?" he said as he softly ran his fingers on her face.
He leaned forward to her ears, "I will make sure you'll live your life to the fullest," he then kissed the sleeping doctor's forehead.

Meanwhile, at the Nightwish's mansion, Elli is talking to her husband.
"So, he's willing to give up his own life for her?" Arthur asked his wife.
"Yes, hun. I told him that Kali will not like it but he's determined,"
"That will be a big problem when Kali learned about it," Arthur said
That's the only thing they could wish for.
