Piper's POV:

It's been three weeks and Niall and I still aren't talking to each other. I'm really starting to get worried. I know I have to apologize, but I just don't know how. And if I don't do it soon, I might lose him altogether, and I don't think either of us want that.

I groggily climb out of my warm bed and am blasted by a wave of freezing air. I hate Ireland. I quickly go to the bathroom and take a shower, blow-drying my hair. As opposed to it being beautiful and smooth, my hair reverts back to its normal form: a wild, frizzy, uncontrollable mass of curls. I don't even care. I manage to control it a little, but only a little. I slip into some jeans, Converse, a white tee and my brown leather jacket.

Normally I would be calling Niall to make sure he was coming, and he would assure me be was, just like every other morning of my life. Now he's not coming. And it breaks my heart. I see him walking with a new girl, but they don't seem romantic at all. She just the girl that moved in across the street from his house. Hope, I think her name is. I see her around school and she seems nice enough, but the last thing I want her to do is steal Niall from me. I think she has a twin sister, Megan. Luckily they're fraternal so I can tell them apart.

Jacie and I climb in my car and drive over to Mullingar High, just to find Niall and Hope standing outside, talking and laughing. Megan walks right past them and goes inside. I follow her, trying to ignore the fact that Niall has apparently moved on from our friendship. I walk over to my locker and fumble with my combination for a second, trying to remember what it is. Suddenly, someone bumps into me and I spill all my books and my coffee on the floor.

"I am so sorry! Crap I'm such a klutz! Lemme help you." It's Megan. She bends over and helps me pick up my books. I shove them in my locker and grab a couple napkins and try to sop up the mess. "I'm Megan. You're Piper, right?"

"Yeah. How did you know?" I ask as I stand up. She shrugs and opens up her locker, which is on the other side of Allison's, which is right next to mine.

"You're sorta popular here." Well that's news to me! I've always kind of been a loner, not really having many friends except for Allison, Kenzie, and Nikki.

"Oh." She laughs, and she's even prettier when she smiles.

"Didn't you know that?" She asks, still chuckling.

"Not really." She shakes her head, her long black waves falling in her face. "So where did you move here from?"

"Bradford. I was disappointed when my mom said we were moving because my best friend Zayn lives there, but it's not like I could change it. He's gonna audition for The X Factor in the spring."

"Really? I'm gonna with Niall! Well, I don't really know if I am anymore. We got in a fight a couple weeks ago and he's still not talking to me. I don't want to lose him. He's just always with Hope! I can never get him alone. It's like he's forgotten about me already. What do I do?" It's weird. I've know this girl for a total of five minutes, and I already feel like I can tell her everything.

"I think you should just go over to his house and demand you talk to him."

"But how can I when he's always with Hope?"

"Here, give me your number and I'll text you when she's not with Niall."

"Okay here." She whips out her iPhone and I tell her my number as she puts it in her phone.

"Great! I'll let you know." I catch both of us off guard by pulling her in for a big hug. She hugs me back.

"What was that for?" She asks, smiling. I shrug.

"For helping me. Do you wanna sit with us at lunch?"

"Who's 'us'?"

"Me, Kenzie, Allison, and Nikki." She grins, and I'm guessing she's glad to have some friend here.

"Sure! Thanks, Piper."

"No problem." I sling my backpack over my shoulder and start down the hallway. Wait.

"Megan!" I yell and run back over to her.

"Yeah?"

"I need to ask you something." She nods and I pause, not wanting to hear the answer. "Are Niall... are Niall and Hope dating?" I blurt out. She hesitates, and I know what the answer is.

"Yes." I feel my heart literally break.
