"Hey Sabre!" called Rainbow Steve, waving his hand and spreading his wings so he could be easier to see through the underbrush as he was nearing toward the others. "Ready to go?"
"First, we gotta compare," Sabre explained in a you-should-have-known-this-was-coming-voice as the Guardian and Alex walked up from behind him.
"Oooooh, right!" Galaxy Steve said brightly.
Rainbow Steve then felt sick to his stomach, wavering though it went by disregarded.
"Hey, Galaxy Steve?" Rainbow Steve asked, turning to his Galaxy Steve, sighing. "Where is all the stuff we gathered? I got about half on me, but I gave the rest for you to carry." "Uhhhh..." Galaxy Steve pulled down his inventory, piling the food on the ground once he pulled them out, "Why do we even need this much anyway?" He asked, looking up from his inventory, and he swiped up, letting it disappear before he looked around his friends. "Well, it's mostly for a contest, of course," the Guardian said. "not all of this stuff is for just the five of us,"
"I for sure thought Sabre told you. He acted as though you knew about the contest," Alex said, brushing some hair out of her eyes.
"We got more!" Rainbow Steve cried triumphantly, smiling as he threw his hands in the air and flapped his wings. "Ahh well, better luck next time," Sabre said, smiling as he gathered up most of the fruit to replace it in random places in the trees and left the rest in a small pile for the others to eat.
"I wonder how many animals will come for these," Rainbow Steve heard Sabre say, chuckling to himself and disappearing behind a tree and into the rainforest. Rainbow Steve suddenly felt uneasy, clutching his head. He winced, taking deep breaths. "Hey Sabre?" Rainbow Steve asked, slowly looking up from his palms and following him-luckily Sabre was still within earshot. "Yeah Rainbow Steve?" Sabre replied, turning his head toward him as he placed a few fruits down low and some in bushes. "Can I uh...talk to you for a second?" he asked, watching the Guardian and Alex have a conversation about an old Steve temple.
"Sure thing, man," he said. Galaxy Steve suddenly pulled out a bucket with a pufferfish inside and admired it, and Rainbow Steve rolled his eyes at him.
Typical Galaxy Steve, Sabre though, glancing over his shoulder behind Rainbow Steve, shaking his head. Rainbow Steve followed reluctantly, trying to calm his busy mind, trying helplessly to block out Sabre's mind.
Will Sabre listen to me? Rainbow Steve asked himself. He sometimes doesn't...but it's worth a try. I mean, he has to listen to this..right?
The both of them went under some birchwood trees, their leaves a strong green. Rainbow Steve came to a stop and spun around to face Sabre, taking a deep breath before he told Sabre what he wanted to say.
"I feel like someone is watching us," Rainbow Steve blurted, the words pouring out of his mouth so fast he was unable to stop it. Sabre's expression tensed, looking at Rainbow Steve square in his visible eye through his blindfold.
"Wait..what do you mean, followed? By-by who?"
"I-I don't know! It's just such a weird feeling-I felt it the whole time I was with Galaxy Steve. If there really is someone that's watching us-they are good at hiding themselves..." Rainbow Steve trailed off and looked down. He was unsure of what to say other than, 'Do...you believe me?'.
Other than that, he had nothing to say. Suddenly, he felt another chill down his spine and whipped around frantically to see if anyone was behind him, but once again it was only tall forest trees, a few of them filled with fruit and covered in vines.
There it is again! Rainbow Steve felt himself starting to freak out, but he shook his head. "What is it? You look like you're having a spasm-are you alright?" Sabre asked, slightly turning his head to see if the others were still there, and found Galaxy Steve staring at the direction they disappeared off to.
