Chapter 7: Dead

The next week, the Evans' twins got devastating news. Their parents had died in a car accident. Lily at least had James to comfort her, but Lilith had nobody except for Regulus, and he was often pulled into Slytherin's darker activities. Lilith locked herself in her room not coming out whatsoever. 

Then one day, Narcissa had come up with food, but Lilith was gone. Narcissa immediately told Regulus.

"Ms. Evans, there's someone here to see you." The Fat Lady called in.

Lily looked up from besides James. 

"Who is it?" Lily asked.

"Mr. Black." The Fat Lady answered.

Sirius raised an eyebrow.

"Mr. Regulus Black, it's about Lilith." She answered further.

Lily and Sirius opened the portrait. Regulus came in out of breath.

"It's Lilith. We can't find her." He said.

"Go get the map." Sirius said.

"I'll get the map." James said at the same time.

James hurried back downstairs with the map. Lilith's name was at the Astronomy Tower. Lily gave a small shriek. Sirius and Regulus had already started sprinting towards the Tower. 

When Sirius and Regulus arrived, Lilith was standing on the edge of the balcony thing. She stepped further back when they entered.

"Don't do this!" Regulus said.

Sirius had his wand ready to cast a Leviosa charm. Lilith took another step back.

"Why are you doing this?" Regulus asked.

Both boys now had tears in their eyes. Lilith narrowed hers.

"I can't handle the pain anymore." Lilith said, dryly.

"What about Lily? She's family!" Sirius asked.

Lilith sneered.

"FAMILY!" She spat out.

"She is no family of mine." Lilith finished.

"But you're twins?" Regulus asked confused.

"No, no we're not. I was adopted. I'm pureblood. And I'm tired of this. I can't lie to her anymore. I can't stand this." Lilith gave a small wave and threw herself off of the Tower. Sirius and Regulus both gave out pained cries. He leaned over the tower and cast the levitating charm. Lilith's head cracked as they saw her fall. 

"NOOO!" Both the Black Brother's screamed.

They heard a scream and knew it was Lily. The Blacks cast a slow falling charm and jumped to the ground.

"Go get Madam Pomfrey." Sirius called up to James who instantly disappeared. 

Lilith's body was pale and clammy. She wasn't breathing.

"Lilith!" Sirius shook the dead girl. 

Madam Pomfrey apparated to them. She instantly cast a CPR spell. It didn't work. Sirius choked back on his tears. 

"Meet me at the hospital wing." She said, before apparating with Lilith.

"You'll all have to leave." Madam Pomfrey shooed them out of the Infirmary.

Sirius walked blindly over to the wall and sank down to the floor. Regulus seeing his brother's anguish, sat down next to him.

"She's going to be fine. She's Lilith. She's been dead before." Regulus said, but he froze when he realized what he had said. 

"What are you talking about?" Lily asked.

Regulus shook his head. 

"Reg. Tell us." Sirius pleaded.

"Why do you even care about her?" Lily snapped.

Sirius turned a light shade of pink. James smirked.

"He's had a crush on her like for like forever." James spilled the tea.

"No changing the subject. Why did you say she's been dead before?" Lily pushed.

Regulus looked uncomfortable. 

"Well, she was like two seconds away from being dead but Madam Pomfrey got there just in time. And I mean it. Like she was about to stop breathing." Regulus said, looking down at his shoes.

"I was so scared." He added softly. 

"Why was she hurt in the first place?" Lily asked.

Regulus was about to say something, but he turned pale. James, Remus, and Peter all left saying that they would be back tomorrow. The younger Black jumped up and started to bang on the door. Madam Pomfrey let him in.

Sirius fell asleep that night right where he was. He didn't know how much trouble he would be in, if that door opened.
