Chris led the way followed by his two daughters, Athena and Allison. They headed to the examination table in occupation of the two dead bodies; Chris and the officer nodded in agreement as he let the three pass. Ali and Athena held hands in comfort knowing how dark their family name meant in the hunter field, the door shut behind them after passing through. "Hmm." He hummed in focus reading the tags attached to the deceased feet. "This one, Sean. Sean was k*lled by this thing Gerard says is a kind of shapeshifter." He circled now behind the head of the bodies. "It hasn't been around for centuries."

Allison nodded. "The thing you shot outside the club the other night."

Chris tilted his head slightly to the left, Allison answered feeling like a realization of how dangerous the species were. "South American legend we know of calls it the kanima. This one, Jessica." He pointed to the body on Athena's right. She was smothered to death after giving birth. The police think it was done by someone else. We think it's a person who's controlling this other shapeshifter. That means two killers, girls. One human, one not." Athena was starting to feel uncomfortable, gooseBumps revealing on her skin as the dense cold air left lingering in the room. "You know, the question I had after Gerard first told me about our family - 'why us?' He quoted me Winston Churchill. 'The price of greatness is responsibility.' Personally, I think it's more about knowledge. What we know, the truth, what we know about the world, that makes us responsible, (he walked back over almost like backing a caged animal into a corner.) for a young couple, their newborn daughter, anyone that doesn't have the power to defend themselves. Are you starting to get it?"

Athena stayed silent looking to the side at her sister whose head was tilted up, making straight eye contact with their father. "I get that this isn't a lecture. It's an interrogation."

Chris hummed in agreement. "Depends whose side she's on," he looked back at the light brunette with green eyes. "because she's starting to act like she isn't an Argent, if she isn't one of us what does that make her? The enemy?" Athena pushed it off with a scoff and eye roll.

How dare he accuse her of being the enemy when she didn't follow their expectations.

He looked back towards Allison, his words being more valuable to his other daughter. "That depends on what you know. Gerard showed me the library. Cameras didn't catch everything, but do you really think a little high school fight can explain that amount of damage?" The Argent raised his tone bringing tears into the hazel-eyed teen. "We know you're trying to protect your friends, but people are dying. A child was orphaned. What you know makes you responsible." He pulled the white cover over the body away realizing the damage done to the body. "It makes you and you responsible for this."

Allison and Athena looked away in disgust, Alison looked back slowly hesitating on what to say. "What do you want me to tell you?"

Tell nothing.

Chris desperately walked towards the girls. "Anything you know. Anything that can lead us to answering the one question that might mean everything." Chris gripped Athena's face forcing her to make clear eye contact with her as he asked his question. "Who controls the kanima?"

Don't open your mouth, Ali.

Don't move.

Don't do anything.

Later at school, Athena and Allison waited for Scott.

Allison paced around as she waited for Scott to arrive, the anticipation eating at her bones, Athena watched through the window crack of the door opening it, and kept watch for any cameras and whispers.
