The three friends sat at a table, enjoying their drinks and catching up on old times. They hadn't seen each other for almost a year and they had met at Jimbo's request. Jimbo was the youngest of the three, average height with a rather stout figure. Something Gill always teased him about while they studied T.V. and Film together at college but he was able to shrug off once he had gotten used to Gill's personality. He wore a track suit as it was what he found most comfortable given his stature, along with a baseball cap hiding his short brown hair and featuring the rather evil-looking face of a robot. The other two were Crash and Gill. Crash was quite short for an adult, something that was also teased by Gill on an almost regular basis. He wore baggy cargo trousers (that were a little too long for him and were torn at the bottoms from how much they had dragged along the ground) and a black t-shirt featuring one of his favourite anime characters. His hair was short, spiked and fiery red. (The leprechaun jokes from Gill were almost endless) The third friend at the table was Gill. He was English like the other two but had Norse heritage. His hair was thick, long and blonde like a Viking's and he was taller and more athletic than the other two, often taking part in swimming, basketball and archery. He wore blue jeans, black boots and a black t-shirt with the sleeves cut off which featured a red pentagram on the back, partially obscured by his long hair. Gill tried to recall why they hadn't seen each other in so long. He recalled that Crash's now wife didn't like him much and wouldn't even allow him at their wedding. She probably told Crash that he wasn't to see Gill anymore. It didn't help that Crash and Jimbos' jobs ate up so much of their time.
James had contacted Crash and Gill and asked them to meet him at their favourite arcade and juice bar, the Juicy Dino. There, he told them about a local scientist that he had met who was studying and experimenting with the possibility of temporarily transforming people into humanoid dinosaurs with incredible strength and agility. The idea was that it would be used for soldiers on the battlefield or perhaps to make sports like wrestling more entertaining. The humans who had been transformed would fight as these humanoid dinosaurs and then turn back into humans after completing their fight or mission. But the good doctor needed volunteers to help him with his experiments. Jimbo had told the doctor that he, Crash and Gill would be more than happy to help. He was confident that Crash and Gill would say yes, and he was right. His friends were as excited about the prospect as he was. Once the excitement started to die down a bit, Crash began to think (and worry about the idea).
"I love the idea of being turned into a talking dinosaur for a bit but how much thought has this scientist friend of yours put into this?" He asked. "What if it goes wrong and we get stuck that way forever?"
"Oh don't be such a girl, Crash." Gill replied. "I'll go first if it makes you feel better."
"Don't worry guys," Jimbo reassured. "Dr. Raye has been working on this for years. He's positive he can turn us back with the flip of a switch." There was a moment of silence but Crash seemed to be more at ease. "And just think," Jimbo continued. "If this thing takes off, Dr. Raye won't be the only one who gets rich. We'll be in the money too. None of us got where we wanted to after we graduated from college. Crash, do you really wanna be stocking shelves in a supermarket for the rest of your life? And Gill, do you really wanna be flipping burgers and spitting in customers' food for the rest of your life?"
"Heck no!" Gill answered enthusiastically and Crash wasn't far behind.
With his friends on board, Jimbo was eager to introduce them to the good doctor and wanted to waste no time.
"Wicked," he said. "I told the doctor, we'd meet him at our earliest convenience. Are you two free tomorrow?" They both nodded and voiced their approval. "Great. I'll call him later and let him know. Then I'll call you guys and tell you what time he wants us at his lab. We'll meet here and walk there. It's not far."
"Alright then!" Gill replied excitedly. "I can't wait to be able to bend steel and lift cars!"
The three then finished their drinks and went home, all of them excited for the next day to come and unable to put it out of their minds for the rest of the afternoon.
