Unfortunately, I am in a club.
I sat on a stool by the wall near the door clutching on to my black purse in my lap.
"Hey, want a drink?" I make out to see a tall guy with blonde hair standing near me in the darkness.
"How about I buy you a drink?"
"Sure, thanks,"
"Sorry, no thanks." I say turning away from the guy.
I glance at all the bodies scattered over the dance floor like ants in their pile. I cringe at the thought of ants and turn back to see the guy walking back with a second cup in his hands.
"Hey, I am a fan, but I won't freak out and blow your cover if you just take this drink, please." He says mischievously.
"Hey, you're that singer Sophia right?! I'm a huge fan!"
"Oh you recognized me?"
I glare up at him and give him a fake smile.
"Give me the cup," I sneer.
He grins a gives me the cup. "You need one, just relax," he says leaning bit more to me.
"Does being famous make you so uptight?"
I gave him a quizzical look.
"Just keep drink up, you'll loosen up in a few." He smiled to himself.
I stood up while I gripped the red cup tightly and chugged the burning liquid down my throat.
I stood up and gripped the red cup tightly. I turn to him.
"Don't fucking tell me to relax." I bit out raising the up over his head and drenching him in the unknown liquor.
I hook my purse on my forearm and walk to the exit.
When I make it home I slam the door close and lock it in frustration while kicking off my heels.
Why did I even go to a club anyway?
I drop my purse on my white sofa. And plop down on a stool a stare at the mirror
Suddenly my stereo starts to play "Mirrors" by me.
("Mirrors" written and owned by Jhené Aiko)
If I'm your reflection..
I glance at brown eyes in the oval shaped mirror along the wall.
Then baby you must be an angel
Cause when the light hits you just right
One could mistake you for a star,
That is exactly what you areMy dark side ironically compliments my bright side.
Better to consider all of the good things...
A glimpse in the mirror,
To make sure you are still there, yeah.My dark side touches the mirror to still see the old 18-year old girl from before.
But then the night takes over
And you are nowhere to be foundA pained expression crosses my face.
Your face in broken pieces
Tears fall against my cheeks.
Don't you look down
Don't you look downMy dark side tries to keep my bright side in hope.
A shame I couldn't see this
Coming aroundMy dark side didn't prepare my white side for the fame.
I wipe some of the tears smudging my mascara.
Your my reflection
I yank my pony tail a loose.
So tell me why cant you be more clear?
Whats up with all these tears?
Don't be regretting
All that you've done, and haven't doneMy fame has just started...
That shit don't matter here...
Whats up with all your fears? My white side scolds my dark side.
You better consider all of the good times
A glimpse from the mirror,
To tell me you're just fine, alrightMy white side has faith in my dark side.
But then the night takes over
And there is no one else aroundEmpty house..
Your face in broken pieces
My midnight thoughts.
Don't you look down
I sniffle as the song ends.
Why would I even attempt to go to a club? That's how all they all started. I'm not strong enough for that yet. But I cant break down because of stupid relationships.
My heart is still here...you just can't see it.
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
So that was really depressing but not all stories start with a "hi I'm Sophia and I have a best friend and been through 6 heart breaks". I don't want every part of my story to be cliché.But anyway, basically overall, I love Jhené Aiko and her songs (inspired the book) so just HAD to put her song in the first chapter.
So far, Sophia tried to go to club even though the sight of clubs make her nervous because of her past relationships. As you can see her "bright side" stayed strong at the club when you see the differences of the flash backs and present time. But when she got home she broke down and her "dark side" came out.
The next chapter won't be so complicated to understand (if this one was) and it will be pleasant because...
*drumroll*
We meet the star crossed lover in his P.O.V. And a full glimpse of Sophia's happy side with her friends.
So whenever this gets discovered, please let me know how I did and please read. Thanks for the few readers who gave my book a look through lol. But don't stop there.
