As Draco Malfoy entered the Slytherin common room he felt a wave of relief come through him. Even with all the chattering students and music playing it was still like a home to him no matter how busy it was in here.

Some students sat by the fireplace and others had already broken out the Wizard's Chessboard. He watched as some girls rushed up to their rooms and the boys were trying to spot mermaids through the windows. For a house that has a reputation like ours, it seemed pretty lively tonight.

Draco didn't see anyone he was dying to talk to so he headed up to his dorm. The hallway was plastered with new quidditch and class pictures from years before. He even saw himself in one of the quidditch pictures! It brought Draco a sense of joy with all the younger students surrounding him and to see others happier in such a dark time.

He was about to open the door to his dorm when it swung open, "Yeah yeah move along!" Blaise chuckled madly. As he did a student walked out of our room with a frustrated look in his eye.

"What's that all about?" Draco asked.

Blaise rolled his eyes, "He wants to make us switch you out for him! No way dude, not in a trillion years!" Draco looked down and saw a half empty bottle of fire whisky in his hands.

"Oh, well thanks for not letting me go Zabini." He replied carefully, and walking through the door.

"Hey Malfoy! Long time no see!" Theodore shouted from his bed. "Look at him Blaise, he's a lady's man now!"

"Totally!" Blaise said and set down the bottle on his desk, Draco noted to clean the stain that the wet glass would leave later.

Draco shrugged, "I'm not dating anyone Theo."

Theo laughed extremely loudly, "Dude! What about O'Reilly, she's so into you and everyone knows it!"

Draco immediately shut his door considering how loud his friends were being, especially with the mention of Juniper. "You can't just yell out someones name like that! I have important things to focus on right now, not girls."

He knew that Theo was aware of the situation Draco was put in, only Blaise remained clueless which wasn't the worst thing in the Wizarding World. He listened to their loud conversations over the never ending topic of Snape's new position, the loss of stores in Diagon Alley, and the latests Death Eater attacks. Draco grew nervous as they talked about who was going to trial, worried they'd mention his father.

"You both have lessons tomorrow, you should really consider some sleep." Draco said after hearing enough. Luckily for him, they both complied sooner or later and started to burn out the candles.

But only a couple minutes later as Draco was planning on turning in for the night, both boys started to snore extremely loud. Unable to sleep now, Draco stomped out of the room with a potions handbook he was planning on reading before tomorrow's lessons.

With the common room empty, he rested himself on the couch and began his book. Draco's goal has always been to be top of his classes, which he could be, if Hermione Granger never got her acceptance letter six years ago. So he was always stuck below her in everything no matter how hard he studied or tried on each test.

"Hey loner." Draco jumped out of his seat, startled and confused. But when he turned around he saw it was only Juniper.

Draco's heart rate instantly lowered again, "Oh god O'Reilly you scared me!" He chuckled. "What are you doing up so late? We have classes."

"What are you doing up so late huh?" Juniper teased slightly.

"I'm studying, and you?" Draco said as he sat back down on the couch.
