READ THE INTRODUCTION.
Saying goodbye to Draco's mother was always the worst part for him. Ever since he was little he never seemed the want to leave without her by his side, but being older he had to act as mature as he could.
"Hopefully Christmas will be better Draco." Narcissa spoke softly. "I promise you that okay?"
"Okay mum." He replied, trying to match her tone. The train horn blew again and more students piled into the compartments. "I think I have to go now."
Narcissa sniffled, "Yes of course." She pulled her son in for one last hug. "Know that I love you son."
"I know, I love you too." He mumbled into her hair before letting go.
Draco grabbed his briefcase and took a last look at Narcissa before following the rest of the people onto the train.
A wave of nostalgia hit him as he entered a compartment. It smelled of pumpkin pastries and all different sorts of candies he used to be obsessed with as a first year. But this somewhat happy thought came to a close when he passed some sour Gryffindors as he walked down the aisle. Draco always had a love-hate relationship with the Hogwarts Express and this was the reason why.
Swiftly, he made his way down to the compartment that had a majority of Slytherins and people he was more comfortable around. Draco quickly spotted Pansy Parkinson, which he wished he hadn't, and Blaise who was sharing a booth with her.
"Draco!" She squealed, pushing her way through Blaise and towards me. "We missed you so so so much you have no idea!"
With her arms already wrapped around me, I slowly pat her back. "Thanks for all the letters Parkinson." He said dryly.
"Why anything for you." Not even five minutes into the train ride and she's trying to flirt.
Draco rolled his eyes and let go of her, slowly making my way to their booth. He pretended to dig through his bag so that the other side of him would be occupied by it. Mainly so Pansy wouldn't sit with him, and to save a spot for Juniper.
"Must have been too busy to write me back?" Blaise chuckled.
Draco scoffed, "As a matter a fact, yes I was a little busy to be talking about quidditch."
Blaise and Draco were great friends, but the way they acted around each other made them look like enemies. "Yeah right, because you're way too cool for quidditch now." Blaise joked.
"My point exactly Blaise."
"Guys stop your bickering!" Pansy whined.
Both boys looked at one another, their faces turnt a bright red and shared the same look of confusion and secondhand embarrassment. Draco really wished that she'd bother some Ravenclaw boys or find a book to read for once. But Pansy hadn't left them alone since Draco dated her back in third year.
The engine roared and started to roll down the tracks. He looked out the window and watched all the parents wave goodbye to their children, some had faces of relief, others were crying more than any newborn Draco had met. Narcissa could be seen in the crowd slowly waving at the train before making her way off the platform.
"Some of these parents are mental!" Blaise commented.
Draco stared at Blaise for a considerably long time, almost being triggered by what he had said. "Like I didn't already know that before." He said defensively.
Pansy elbowed Blaise, "C'mon, say sorry." She whispered.
"Right, my bad." He apologized quietly, "I forgot about your dad and stuff."
