The next couple days leading to the court date have literly been hell for me. I was to nervous to sleep and then I was to tired to work at school. I would be irritable and cranky and I'm sure everyone got just a little bit tired of me. (Note the sarcasm) So today is the day and I'm extremely tired Jake is holding me up from the backseat of the car.
John is driving and Sophie is in the passenger seat. "Go to sleep its ganna be a two hour drive to the closest court house." Thank god for small towns I think as I lay down with my head on Jakes lap. His arm is under my head acting like a pillow while the other one strokes my hair which is surprisingly relaxing. Eventually I fall asleep in Jakes lap.
I wake up when someone yells my name. "Please just five more minutes." I hear a chuckle before I think Sophie starts yelling again. "No now get up let's go or were going to be late." I sigh and open my eyes before getting up and out of the car. I see the giant courthouse and smooth out the nonexistent wrinkles in my black v neck and my black jeans. Jake grabs my hand and I smile back at him before we start to go to the front doors.
An hour later we finally get into the courtroom. Since my father and my uncle were from the same family and have had the same charges they decided to do a double trial. The courtroom is bursting with voices as we walk in. I spot officer Blane sitting by a nicely dressed man on the left while David and Mike sit on the other side. I go to sit down in one of the pews behind the little railings but Blaine catches me and points to a chair next to him.
I sigh and try to get past Jake but, he has other plans he wraps his arm around my waist as I pass. "Where are you going?" He asks me as he pulls me into his chest. "I have to sit with Blane sorry but, stay here." I whisper before going on my tiptoes and giving him a light kiss. "Don't miss me too much darling." I smile up at him and try to back up but, he doesn't let go.
"Jake let me go." He shakes his head a stupid smile on his lips. "I need a proper kiss before you can go." I sigh and stand on my tiptoes again. Once my lips are almost touching his I feel his arms loosen and I pull away a giant smirk on my face. "Not fair." He pouts and my smirk widens. "Life's not fair." I whisper into his ear before going back and turning before opening the little gate and going to the table and sitting down with officer Blaine. "Why do I have to be here?" I ask him seeming a little nervous. "Because your the one who is pressing charges."
"What!?" I scream. "I did not sign up for this you didn't even ask me. What if they are found not guilty? Huh what do I do then because I am not leaving my town!" Blaine looks around a little worried at my outburst. "Shh dont create a scene plus your not the only one pressing charges I'm helping you because in my eyes I see attempted rape and child abuse therefore if the child can not come forward then I can help or take over. This is not going to be easy for you and I'm here to help, you can bring your boyfriend up here to if you want." Oh thank god. I look at Jake and see he's already watching me. I point to the chair behind me. He nods and gets up before walking over and sitting down. "Thank you officer Blaine." He nods and starts talking to the lawyor I'm guessing.
I sigh and lean against Jakes chest taking comfort in it. He wraps his arms around me and kisses the top of my head. A few minutes later the rest of our friends walk in and sit down next to Sophie and Taylor. They give reasurring smiles and I try to return it but, cant. "Please rise for the Honorable judge McArthur." Everyone stands as a middle aged woman probably in her late fiftes comes out of a side door and sits down. "Sit. The court trial, against Mike and David Rain versus Olivia Rain and Officer Steven Blaine may now begin. Mr. Hedwig for the defendant you may proceed."
The lawyer stands up and begins to talk. "Over the past year Mrs. Rain has been beaten bloody by her father. Once her friends had found out they went straight to the police. After bringing the man in question to jail the uncle Mikel Rain was called to act as a guardian for the 17 years old. He was as bad as the father if not worse. If we let these kinds of men out into the streets what kind of example are we setting."
"Mr. Hedwig are you finished with your opening statement?" The judge asks. "Yes m'am I am." She nods and then turns towards my fathers lawyer. "Mr. Delrose you may give your opening statement." The guy gets up and let me tell you his hair couldn't be even more greasy. You could cook a pizza on that thing. It didn't help that there was a giant bald spot in the back and the guy was like fifty hundred pounds. "My clients are good men. One has lost his wife while the other has lost a child. Imagine yourself losing a child what would you do how would you feel. Imagine losing the one you love most in this world now how do you feel. There is no evidence to these claims of attempted rape and abuse. These are childish claims of 17 year old girls with a grudge."
