The room was silent, and dark. The only light coming from Kara's trident. Aru couldn't see very well, mainly because Kara was facing away from her.
At the sight of her, Aru started to cry.
She couldn't help it. It had been almost half a year since she'd seen Kara.
The air was so...
...Tense.
Aru felt as though something were about to happen.
She wasn't wrong.
"Hello."
That one word made Aru cry harder. (Again, SHE COULDN'T HELP IT!) She could barely utter a reply, but she managed.
"Kara, I... I'm sorry. Please, leave the sleeper! Come back to us... To me..."
Aru stepped closer to her.
"Can you forgive me?..."
She thought she heard Kara snicker before she spoke, but she couldn't be all that sure.
"Oh, Aru. It's almost funny how desperate you are. If we weren't on opposite sides of the battlefield, maybe I'd feel sorry for you."
Aru felt stricken. This... wasn't at all like Kara. How much had she changed?
"Kara, I... I want you to leave the sleeper's side and rejoin the potatoes."
Aru tried to choke back tears, and despite her efforts, a few of them escaped. (She wasn't proud of that.)
Kara still didn't turn around, but she did reply.
"And I want you dead, but only one of us can have what we want."
Then, she lunged.
Lmao I can't wait to write this, but there's a lot of chapters that I have to do before it.
It will come though.
