Is It Really Meant to Be?

Leni packed up her things and requested her security and driver to take her to Risa'd house. Her driver simply nodded and her security escorted her.

It was rush hour so it wasn't a surprise when they got stuck in traffic. Leni looked up from her phone, frustrated. She then turned her attention to the street vendors on the sidewalks.

"Jay, gilid mo nga please yung sasakyan doon sa may nagbebenta ng manggang hilaw."

"Sige po, Ma'am."

They waited for a few more minutes so that can get through the other cars to get to the stalls.

"Ma'am, ako nalang ho ang bibili. Baka mag raid pa po ang mga tao jan pag nakita kayo." her security offered.

"Hindi, okay lang na ako na ang bibili. Maganda rin na makita ko ang mga tao.

"Ma'am, ako na po. Matatagalan po tayo kung kayo pa ho ang bababa."

Leni hesitated for a while but reluctantly agreed.

"Sige. Basta sabayan mo please ng bagoong."

"Yes po. Ma'am."

Her security got off the car and bought a bag of the Mangoes. It took a while because the fruit was quite popular and a lot of people were buying from the stall. Few minutes later, her security got back with a bag of mangoes which smelled so good.

"Ang bango naman nyan." Leni said.

"Opo, Ma'am. Bagong pitas lang daw po kasi." her security replied.

"Yung bagoong ba nabili mo?"

"Yes, Ma'am. Pina-separate ko pong plastic para di mag-halo yung amoy."

"Oh sige. Thank you ha." Leni thanked her security and told the driver to continue to Risa's house.

After an hour of driving, they finally arrived. Leni was so excited to see Risa and explain to her what happened.

When she arrived, Risa's helper greeted her.

"Good afternoon po, VP Leni. Si Ma'am Risa po ba ang suyo niyo?" the helper asked.

"Oo, anjan ba siya?" Leni replied.

"Ay opo. Nasa opisina niya po, eh may bisita rin ho siya ngayon."

"Ah talaga? Kilala mo ba?" Leni asked.

"Hindi ko po kilala pero alam ko po kasamahan niya sa senado." the helper responded.

"Ahh okay. Sige, puntahan ko nalang ha. Thank you."

Leni proceeded to go up to Risa's office which was the farthest end of the hallway of the 2nd floor of their house. She was so excited to talk to her Padaba and to eat the mangoes together.

She was stopped however by chancing a glimpse into Risa's office through a small opening from the door. She was surprised to see a woman, a woman that was holding the face of Risa sweetly. It was Loren Legarda, one of the other senators.

Leni couldn't hold back the tears as they fell from her cheeks. Not a while later, Risa noticed that someone was at the door, she was also surprised to see who it was.

"Leni?" Risa asked.

Leni just dropped the mangoes and walked away. Risa quickly got up from her seat and chased after Leni.

"Leni! Leni, wait!!" Risa yelled as both of them ran down the stairs.

"Leni ano ba! Saglit lang kasi."

"Akala ko ba ako lang. Akala ko 'di mo ako sasaktan." Leni said.

"Anong sinasabi mo?" Risa asked for clarification.

"Si Loren pa talaga?! Siya pa?"

"Ano bang pinagsasabi mo?"

"Sabihin mo lang kung ayaw mo na, Risa. Sabihin mo lang na kung gusto mo nang mag-hiwalay tayo, ako na mismo ang lalayo."

Leni then proceeded to walk faster back to car but Risa kept on chasing her.

"Leni! Wait lang!"

"Tama na, Risa. And fyi lang, the picture was not edited, it was a picture of a make-up artist and I nung pumunta ako ng Aklan as a Guest of Honor. Sinaktan mo'ko dahil sa pinaniwalaan mong fake news!"

Risa just stood there when Leni turned her back and walked out of her property. When her tears fell, Loren was right behind her.

"Risa? Anong nangyari?" Loren asked.

"I think Leni and I just broke up." Risa replied.

"Why? What happened?" Loren asked again.

"Nakita niya ata tayo sa office, and baka akala niya I was cheating." Risa answered.

Loren and Risa have been friends for a long time. Their bond is like sisters.

"Let her be, Risa. She needs time. You know, nasaktan rin siya nung nalaman niya na naniwala ka sa fake article na kumalat."

"What if she doesn't come back? Paano kung hindi kami magkaayos? Paano na kung tuluyan na rin siyang mawala sakin. Di ko kakayanin, Lor."

"She will. If she loves you, of course she will give you another chance."

Risa just hugged Loren and saw the bag if mangoes Leni had dropped. She walked over to the area where they were scattered and picked them up one by one.

Risa was so devastated and felt guilty, but all she can do now is to apologize to Leni and hope that everything will be alright.
