"Ha Yoon? Ha Yoon!"
Yoon woke up from her dream. She woke up so sudden that she almost fell off her chair. As she was struggling to come back to life, Mingyu who was standing in front of her, across the table laughed himself to tears.
"You look so miserable. What happened to you, my friend?" He pulled a chair and took a sit after putting down some files on her table.
"Nothing." "Hm, nightmare?" "It's nothing, Mingyu. Can please stop asking?"
He frowned. "Oh come on, I saw you stirred in your sleep and cried! Look at your stained cheeks." He pointed at Yoon's face which she later quickly wiped it away.
"It's not tears. It's just sweats. Can't you feel the heat in this room? Oh my god." To make it more believable she fanned her face with her hands and folded up her sleeves.
Mingyu snorted. Yoon was so bad at lying and everyone knew that. She would start to talk nonsense and make exaggerated gestures:
"Hey, do you see my aircond remote control? I can't stand this heat anymore. No, wait. I think the aircond is broken. Alright, no problem. I will call Mr. Han to fix it now." She rushingly searched for her smartphone across the table. When she couldn't find it, she then grabbed her handbag, which was situated under the table. Mingyu just sat there, observing the girl.
"Yoon."
"What? Why I can't find his contact?" Her fingers were busy scrolling up and down the screen, while her free hand was put on her waist. She looks like a madwoman who just lost her child at the amusement park, Mingyu thought. He stood up.
The guy then pulled away the phone from her grip then grabbed Yoon's shoulders to face him. "Yoon, relax. Alright, I won't ask anymore.. just calm down, please." He pushed Yoon slowly until she was seated on her chair. "Do you know? You're bad at lying." He teased her before went back to his seat.
"Shut up, Mr Nosy. What are you doing here in my room anyway? Don't you have any work to do?" Yoon asked. Based on her tone and face expression, she was clearly annoyed but Mingyu decided to ignore it and teased her further.
"I was knocking on your door for 20 minutes but got no answer so I decided to just walk in." He giggled. Yoon glared at him. "What? Why are you laughing?". Mingyu was trying his best to hold his laughter but unfortunately he couldn't stop. The images he just saw kept reappeared inside his head.
"Seriously, Mingyu? What's so funny? If you keep laughing like this, I will kick your tall ass out of my room". The said guy readjusted his seat and wiped the tears that were falling on both of his cheeks before taking a very deep breath (apparently he laughed so hard that he forgot to breathe).
"Okay, calm down first Miss Ha." As much as he wanted to laugh more, he couldn't help but to feel intimidated by the girl's stare. If a stare could kill, he probably would be dead by now.
"I'm sorry but you looked like a total mess. This was the first time you fell asleep while working. Are you that tired?" He asked. Yoon rolled her eyes and leaned back on the chair. She sighed. "I couldn't sleep for three days, that's why." Mingyu dramatically gasped. "Don't tell me..." Yoon nodded her head. "Yes. That one project that told you before."
So, three days ago, one of Yoon's client suddenly requested for some changes in his project. To make the situation even worse, the project was scheduled to start in a week. Usually, Yoon would just rejected the request due to the agreement they had signed, which stated: 'Any changes will not be accepted one week prior the date written in the agreement.' but her senior had personally contacted her to proceed with the request. It turned out, the client was revealed to be the son to one of her company's stakeholders. It irked her so much but she soon realised that as a employee, she didn't have any power to question the upper authorities on anything.
"So far, I have submitted five new designs to him but he rejected all of them! Can you believe it?!" Yoon grabbed her hair in frustration. She recalled that one time, she almost called the said client in the middle of the night and cursed him but fortunately her phone's battery went low and died even before she could hit the call button.
Mingyu bit his lip and stared at his best friend in sympathy. He leaned forward and pulled both of her hands away. "That was so awful, I know but you can't just release all the frustration on your poorly damaged hair." He took Yoon's face in his big hand then proceed to do her hair. "Yoon, your hair looks greasy as hell. Have you showered? Oh my god, let me take a smell." Mingyu tried to reach some of her hair but Yoon smacked his hand away.
"Ouch! What the hell, dude?" Mingyu caressed his hand, frowning. "Don't 'dude' me. If you have nothing important to inform me then please get out from my office now." She stood up from her seat and adjusted herself.
"At least thank me for comforting you. I sacrificed my precious time just to check on you and this is what I get?" Yoon rolled her eyes before heading to his side, arms folded. "Get out please." Mingyu huffed, he then dragged himself to the door.
"Witch." "I heard that, Kim Mingyu." "Yeah, it was supposed to be intentional." "Please run for your life now."
Mingyu annoyingly mimicked her but soon disappeared behind the glass door as he scurried away when he spotted an angry looking Yoon, headed to his direction.
Yoon sighed. This is so much tiring than the unfinished project.
She brewed herself a coffee then took a sip. After feeling so much better, she went back to her seat and looked over the files that Mingyu had brought. As when she finally got to pull herself together, her phone pinged.
2 unread messages from Mingyu the Coworker.
"I swear to god, this guy never let me breathe peacefully." Yoon shook her head before tapping on the notification.
