Alex's POV.
"I'm not staying in your house. I have my own and that's where we are staying. Also, since when did Death have a house?"
It felt pathetic to say yes to Darian's proposal, but he was serious and I didn't want to test his craziness on my sister's life. But I had a condition to let him stay with me. It was for us to stay under my roof. "I am a being of super phenomenon, beyond human understanding. I take the souls of a billion people every second, and you expect me to live in an apartment building, surrounded with nosy neighbours," at least he got nosy right. "Crack heads." Wait...how does he know? "Noisy grandmothers and wrongly counselled couples with issues." He literally just said everything wrong with living in my apartment. "I'm the human and also, you need me. So it's either you stay with me or forget living together." I said forgetting he also had leverage over my head.
The argument landed with an unresolved issue. But we decided to stay at each other's homes then we decide which we're more comfortable with. First night was at my place. Because as the saying goes, ladies first.
Darian didn't even leave my side the entire time at work and managed not to get in trouble for it or kicked out. I didn't even get scolded. Stella thought he even worked there. She was the manager and should know all the employees but every time she came across Darian, she would just blush and wave like she had a teenage crush on him. She doesn't know what she's smiling so pretty at. If she did, she would run.
He kept following me everywhere and even to the ladies dressing room. I managed to drag him out giving me time with the customer who wanted to purchase a pair of leggings.
My shift ended at six o'clock and I had to talk to Kaila on the phone about the dinner. It took a little convincing over the phone but she finally agreed and I told her the hotel dad's staying in.
Darian just stood as a guard around me and I figured I had to tell him where I was going this evening.
"I'll escort you." He said it like I was inviting him over. "No. It's my dad we're talking about. He's gonna ask questions. Questions I doubt you will answer correctly. Like who you are? What relationship is between us—"
"Just tell him you fancied me for months and with much convincing and blackmail we became an item." He winked like what he said made sense. How exactly does this man see me?
"Why do you say it like I'm the one who needs to be fancying you? You knocked on my door and I opened it. You walked into my life, so you do what I tell you to do."
"Firstly, it's because I'm clearly out of your league." He insulted with a smile.
"I'm out of your league? FYI, all the guys I dated were out of my league. Plus they were better looking than you." That was a lie. For a pain in the ass like Darian, he was pretty hot and extremely attractive. His face could be on the cover of all magazines. Even once with vegetables. His face and body put my exes to shame. And I dated hot guys with perfect jawline. The only guy I would compare his looks to would be Carlos.
He was the only guy that actually made me feel better about myself and treated me like I was worth it. But then, he did disappear on me. Without any trace. Maybe he wasn't perfect after all.
Darian and Carlos were debatable in looks, but in personality. Carlos would win it without even trying. Darian would lose it without even trying as well.
But maybe I would give Darian the looks on that. With Carlos' character and Darian's looks the perfect man would finally be created.
Wait...what am I saying? When did thoughts like that start to manifest in my head.
